I am happy for the young man, but he is batting 202 in SEC play. Think of how many more games this team could have won if he had batted say 275 with 31 K's and one of the lowest OPS on the team. Only 16 RBI as the clean up hitter.

Who in this thread needs to check in and apologize for poo poo’ing on Torres? You can do so here.
People can be critical of a .230 hitter.

Hilarious.

I am by no means saying that scouts are banging down the doors trying to get to Jason Torres, but since Tennessee the dude is:
.259 with 2 2B and 4 HR
Are there better third basemen out there? Certainly.
Are there more liabilities in our lineup? Absolutely.
Will Vaughn be able to backfill a better third baseman next year? Likely.
Do I get the warm and fuzzies when he steps into the box? no
Does he deserve to get shat on by this board? Also no.

Jason Torres isn’t on tigerdroppings dot com reading criticisms of himself. This is a fan board where we talk about the games. When your cleanup hitter goes 0-5 with 3 ks it’s going to draw some criticism. And most of the post were just suggesting he be moved down in the batting order which is probably still a good idea. He’s not Babe Ruth because he went yard against St John’s.
Everyone wants him to be great. I’d love if he keeps it up. We all would.

Sunday game against Tennessee was April 24.
The best thing about his approach in the last game was hitting the ball where it was pitched. The 2b was right center and the HR was RF. Those pitches have wore him out all year.
I’d love for Torres to get hot!!

Correct. It doesn't matter how or to whom football lost.

he basketball coach lost in the Sweet 16. Again, doesn't matter that it was to the eventual national champions. WIN OR BE GONE, Oater.
Who is calling to fire Oats? Or the golf coach, or the track coach?

The softball coach LOST in the Semis of the WCWS. We had a good team. Why didn't we win it all? And, by the way, the guy has only won two national championships in his entire career! TWO!
Two?

I'm sorry but seeing y'all use batting average as a measure of a player's productivity is very frustrating. It's just a meaningless stat these days. .245/.350/.515 is substantially more productive than .325/.360/.400. They are on base at roughly the same rate, but one of these guys is an impatient singles hitter who runs into the occasional gapper or HR and the other is an extremely patient power bat that more than makes up for the lack of total hits with the fact that he works counts and hits for power.

Everybody in the history of baseball not named Tony Gwynn has done this a time or two.

Sure. Which is why context is important and you looks at a larger sample size.
There isn’t a single fanbase in America from tee ball to the majors that would be happy with their cleanup hitter hovering around the Mendoza line and not putting the ball in play with RISP.
The board was critical of his performance in that game but it’s backed up by his performance all year and you’re trying to go to bat for him with selective stats post UTvwhich are still kinda dogshit for a cleanup hitter in college baseball

True enough but I do think putting the bat on the ball matters in the position he’s in. It’s great to have high OBP but in a perfect world you want your 3, 4, 5 guys being able to hit the damn thing too since you have to drive in runs.
I get that BA is somewhat antiquated but you still have to have SOMEONE hit

The thing is, we don’t have anybody better for that spot, so why poop on him for just trying to be the best version of himself?
Hines isn’t ready. I like having big pop in the bottom 3rd of our order.

Maybe. Idk. Vaughn has us in the CWS so I’ll default to him as no one is paying me to coach baseball.
Definitely would love to see Torres kill it in Omaha. I don’t think anyone on the board has been overly ugly toward him. The fans are way nastier toward Ryan Williams for having a plushie

Yeah, if he had done better they might’ve been able to host a regional, maybe even a super. Heck, maybe they could have made it to Omaha even.

What? ONE!?!
I'm literally shaking.
I'm withholding my $100/year until this is remedied.

How many more decades does he need to go without one before you think it's time for a change? Do we give lifetime contracts for one championship?

Oh, I am definitely with you.
We shouldn't accept anything but winning. Saddam Hussein had the perfect answer for losers. Am I right, or am I right, or am I right? There’s just no excuse for it. It’s a disgrace to all Alabama.
I Can’t believe we let that women’s basketball coach get out of here alive.
