Still no info leaks on this?!

Guys, I don't have jack shite to do at work. I need some news or info to entertain me.

Do we know Feld officially interviewed? Is Saban looking at other people? Are we negotiating the contract? Was there a mysterious plane in Tuscaloosa this week?

Feld's interview with Saban might've been done without him physically traveling to UA this week. I'm seeing conflicting info on that. Tim Watts and some "insider" posters say Saban will interview several guys, but no names mentioned yet.

Kansas State head strength and conditioning coach Chris Dawson is interviewing for the strength coach job at Alabama, BOL has confirmed. Dawson has been the head strength coach at K-State since 2010 and has held the same position at Kansas (2003-09) and Minnesota (2001-02).

Dawson may be great, but that doesn’t move the needle for me. Meh.

Would be a great hire. The dude was our #1 source of energy in 2017.

I’m not naming sources, but we’ve made an upgrade and it’s a matter of working the details out at this point.

Kind of weird to be interviewing other coaches as we work out the details with the new coach isn't it?

We're hiring a strength coach - what random fan actually knows much of anything about anyone?

My thoughts exactly.

Hell, just from inference, seems like that'd be a great hire. KSU always seems to have a physical team of 1-3 stars that competes with teams that have 4 and 5 stars on their rosters, and often beats those teams.

Between Goldtide and the BOL insider who would be “shocked” if Feld wasn’t announced as the coach today, I guess we’re done listening to anyone claiming “sources.”

I mean we're melting over strength coaches that nobody knows anything about in terms of their bonifieds as strength guys or as motivators/program glue guys.

This is about as absurd as anything I've ever seen. Outside of a guy who has literal negative reviews from previous jobs how on earth can Bob from Boaz know ANYTHING about random strength coaches?

Sinclair at UGA is widely praised as being very good at his job. He was hired from Marshall. Who the hell knew who Scott Sinclair was before he showed up in Athens?

We laughingly throw it around a lot but this is going to be hire where you are literally going to have to just trust in Saban. There will in all likelihood not be any evidence to make you feel good or bad about this hire.

Now "fluid situation" is getting thrown around on Twitter.

To be honest, if it's not Feld, I don't give a frick who it is. I think Feld's persona would add something, much like Cochran did. Otherwise, it's just some dude teaching weights and convincing people to keep working. I feel like whoever Saban picks will do fine with that.

Cochran made the position a highly visible one. So yeah, fans do know and follow strength coaches on twitter like any other assistant. Feld excited the fan base because he’s young, has a big persona and public following. He’d basically be a younger, cutting edge Cochran AND he had experience with Saban and Smart. Just seemed like a no brainer slam dunk. So talking to some older dude from a 7-5 type program with no experience in the Saban tree...easy for me to see why one is exciting and the other really isn’t. That said, I will trust Saban on this...nobody had a clue who Cochran was before Saban hired him.

I get the excitement factor, but that's fleeting and will wear off. In terms of hiring a guy who can do the job, we truly have zero clue. Way more than any other position, because their track record isn't really measured by stats or results on the field. You can generally tell if one is awful, but it's hard to tell if one is great (outside of what other guys in the business say about them).

And for the internal stuff that Cochran did, we definitely have no clue there.

I agree Feld seemed/seems like a logical choice from the outside, but that doesn't mean he is and certainly doesn't mean he's the only one.

Inside sources are now saying Dick Leverage is the front runner for the job. He’s stiff competition and will be hard to beat

Put me on record as not giving a shite who it is really . Saban will get a qualified candidate and as others have said, I can’t name 3 in the whole country

Saban is like a sore Dick...... can’t beat it
