Hahahahaha 2006 Duke game hahahahahaha

Holy shite the football during my college years was pathetic. I had to beg my date to stick around for the 2nd half of that game.

Some of the players on the 2006 team did end up winning a national championship though.

I was a freshman at Jacksonville State and wouldn't transfer to UA for a couple of years. I was in Army ROTC and had been at the Talladega Super Speedway volunteering. After the race had ended, we were stuck in the massive traffic jam that was trying to edge its way onto Speedway Blvd. I listened to the entire first half on the radio and probably scared the people in our van half to death with my ranting and raving as Alabama's mediocrity washed over me via the speakers.

Good grief... That 2006 year was a nightmare. Darby up the middle. Penalty after penalty. The missed tackles. The 38 missed FGs in the Arky game. Dave Rader calling plays...

Le'Ron McClain was fun to watch with the ball in his hands though. He didn't get the ball a whole lot, from what I can remember. I think that was the year that we discovered that Nikita Stover was actually attending UA to play football, right? Gilberry and Simpson were fun to watch on the defense. Did we figure out how to stop that inside trout, or trap, in the second half of the Indy Bowl. Gah, what a year.

They sure did, and they are probably my favorite group of seniors in the history of the program. Those guys changed the culture of the program.

I’m mad that we let them score.

What was the last Alabama game only available on PPV? Seems like even the crappy FCS games have been on some side-ESPN or regional non-PPV channel lately.

PPV died with the creation of SEC Network. From looking back it appears Chattanooga in 2013 was the last Alabama game to ever be a Pay Per View game.

Even that game was available on ESPN 3, however. But I believe that was the last game Tyler Watts and Chris Stewart ever did as commentators.

I feel like I had to buy that game, but I could be wrong.

I thought it was the Georgia Southern game.

The one where they ran all over arguably the GOAT defense like “shite through a tin horn”

Nope just looked it up, it was the Chattanooga game in 13

It's a night I rather forget but
October 7 2006 I was in Bryant Denny. We were losing at the half to winless Duke who under Ted Roof would finish 0-12. The atmosophere was completely dead & on an already 2 game losing streak & struggle to win that game got the ball rolling on a potential coaching change. I told my wife after the game this team's got Independence Bowl at best written all over them.
Its amazing how quickly fortunes can turn with a coaching change. 2 years later in O8 were playing Fla for the SEC & a shot at the National championship.

If you would have told me at the half time of this game that in 3 season we’d be celebrating a National Championship; I would have laughed my arse off and mocked you mercilessly for being a sunshine pumper.

Funny how things happen.

Just watched some of that 2010 game - you are right about the talent level. Sheesh - Julio was a man among boys. The RBs - Ingram, Richardson, and Lacy. Geez.
