This is the Joey Blackwell ‘article’ of the podcast he and Tyler Martin had with Coach Bohannon (posted above). Appears to be mostly a transcribed version of the podcast.

After an 11-Month Hiatus, Alabama Baseball and Brad Bohannon are Ready for Competition

I appreciate the positive reinforcement, SOG and TideSaint. I’ve read various boards for years but this is the first one I’ve signed up for and posted to.

I’m blessed to be in a position to attend many UA sporting events. I absolutely love Bama football and basketball, but those get ample (well-deserved) attention. Was happy to see the push to get a baseball thread going and decided to take the plunge and try to contribute.

If there’s ever a push for softball or gymnastics threads, I’ll do my best to chip in on those as well.

Roll Tide!

We will count on you to help out in here for sure man. We usually have a softball thread, as well, but it always ends up turning into one specific poster talking about how awful Murphy is

NCAA.com - 2021 SEC Baseball Preview

quote:

Keep and eye on

Alabama
Head coach: Brad Bohannon
2019 record: 30-26 (7-23)
2020 record: 16-1 (0-0)

Strengths: The Crimson Tide will have a major edge at the start of every weekend series with Connor Prielipp on the mound, as the first-team preseason All-American is one of college baseball’s most talented aces. The bullpen is anchored by a reliable one-two duo in Chase Lee and Brock Guffey, and the lineup has an intriguing blend of power and speed.

Question marks: This roster features very little SEC experience, and the coaches thought the Tide “played very young at times throughout the fall.” Improving the defense is a top priority, and the offense needs to show it can withstand the loss of its two best hitters last year, Tyler Gentry and Brett Auerbach. And though the weekend rotation is talented, all three starters must prove themselves as bona fide SEC workhorses. While the bullpen has a couple of nice pillars, it does not have nearly as much depth as many SEC staffs.

Star power: Prielipp didn’t allow a run and posted a sparkling 35-6 K-BB mark in his shortened debut season, and he got even better in the offseason, adding some 25 pounds of strength to his 6-foot-3 frame and showing improved overall command and better secondary stuff. He can really spot up with a 92-96 fastball from the left side, along with a legitimate plus to double-plus slider at 88-90 and a rapidly improving mid-80s changeup. He’ll be throwing to another emerging star in fourth-year junior catcher Sam Praytor, who returned from injury to hit .350/.452/.667 last spring.

Glue guys: Outfielder T.J. Reeves has plus raw power and hit nine homers in 2019; he’s back as the most established threat in the heart of the order, but the Crimson Tide would like to see him turn in more consistent at-bats and cut down on his swing-and-miss tendencies. First baseman Drew Williamson has a mature all-fields approach from the left side and is starting to unlock his raw power potential after making some swing adjustments last summer. Lee, a sidewinder with uncommon velocity (90-92) from his low slot, is a bulldog at the back of the bullpen, and Guffey pounds the zone with four pitches and has the most experience on the staff.

LATider is an absolute treasure. I wish he’d post in every season long thread.

Sure would be nice for baseball to build upon last year and really make our athletic department solid across the board in sports that get eyeballs on them.

re: #23 Bama Baseball | (9-1) (Sat, 3/6 @ Charleston)
That is some good information.

Notes* We have a guy that goes 92-96 from the left side with a plus to two plus slider! Folks, we’ve died and gone to Heaven. Or at least Iowa.

Chase Lee goes 90-92 from a low arm-slot! Do you all know how uncommon that is? Especially from a guy who is not really big. Out of the pen, a guy like that can be devastating.

I think Prater is a player. I know the guy can hit.

My feeling is that Reeves has worked hard during the off-season under some good coaches, and is going to come out and hit really well for us this year.

We will make some noise. We will beat some teams. Roster and experience issues will hold us back from series wins against Vandy, Fla. and LSU, but Friday nights are definite possibilities against each.

The SEC is, by far, the best baseball conference. It is like playing a schedule of the nation’s best teams every year. Talent runs out of the ears of many teams. There are very few if any gimmes. Going .500 plus is grounds for post season play. We likely can get there this year. Then it is a matter of whose hot. Which probably won’t be us, but that’s okay

Good post. But we're taking at least 2/3 from LSU.

re: #23 Bama Baseball | (9-1) (Sat, 3/6 @ Charleston)
It was announced in November (which seemed a little late in the process). He had an incident earlier that month and I’m not sure if that contributed to the decision. Leaves Bama with 34 on the roster instead of 35. Hope things turnout well for him wherever he winds up. Next man up!

re: #23 Bama Baseball | (9-1) (Sat, 3/6 @ Charleston)
Perfect Game staff picks (Bama portions listed below the link)

2021 College Season: Staff Picks

Top Freshmen

Grayson Hitt, Alabama
The 6-foot-3 left-hander will get plenty of opportunities to succeed for a Crimson Tide team that is expecting big things this season. Hitt works in the low-90s with his fastball and has shown the ability to land his breaking ball for strikes. Pitching on weekdays or Sundays for a team expected to compete for a Regional bid should bode well for tons of early wins for the freshman.

Impact Seniors (note: eligibility wise, Sam isn’t a senior)

Sam Praytor, Alabama
Praytor returns to Tuscaloosa for his fourth year with the Tide and will be counted on as a run-producing bat in the middle of the order. He is coming off a hot start to his 2020 campaign where he showcased his power, leading Alabama in home runs with six and drove in 18 while hitting .350. He will likely see time as the designated hitter on his days off from catching as he has proven throughout his career to be a consistent bat that the Tide can lean on as they look to get off to a hot start once again in 2021.

CWS Sleepers

Alabama
The Crimson Tide were off to a torrid start before the season was cut short a year ago. With a frontline starter like Connor Prielipp, who has turned himself into a high-end prospect looking ahead to 2022, to go along with Tyler Ras in the rotation and a potent offense, Alabama has the ingredients to make a deep run this upcoming postseason.

Alabama Baseball’s Connor Prielipp, Owen Diodati Selected to Preseason All-SEC Team

Alabama’s Connor Prielipp and Owen Diodati were selected to the 2021 Preseason All-Southeastern Conference Baseball teams, the league office announced on Thursday. Prielipp was named a first-team honoree at starting pitcher while Diodati was tabbed a second-teamer at outfielder.

If y'all get my weather from today on Saturday then this weekend's games aren't happening.

It's pouring here in central Texas and cold as hell.

Miserable weather is headed your way.
