I checked our depth chart and almost all starters are sophomores and juniors. The defense will be a veteran group. Just some early thoughts.

Could very well be Saban's best team, and one of the best ever. But it's early and that's all pure speculation. We've got to see what happens the rest of this season and who comes back. If everyone improves and doesn't regress and they keep their eyes on the prize then 2019 could be just as elite on offensive if not better, and the defense could be 2011/2016 levels of good.

Skill positions should be solid...losing only Damien Harris unless Jacobs gets a good draft review

The OL will be a concern, losing mostly like Jonah and for sure Ross and Lester. replacing 3/5 of the line is never easy

for sure gonna lose Raekwon, Buggs, Mack, Thompson and Miller, the re-additon of Lewis, Chris Allen should help with the loss of losing so many starters.

Right now, I see Q Williams returning

Bringing back the entire secondary sans Thompson most likely, 3/4 starting LBs plus 2 injured guys who would be playing a LOT if not hurt. DL is the only spot that could be inexperienced, and obviously the trenches are crucial.

Don't forget we still have Matt Womack though, he started all of 2017 and was solid. So in a way, while we do lose 3/5, we also bring back 3/5. Leatherwood hopefully goes to LT, and you'd think Womack with his height would be at RT which I suppose would put Wills back at Guard, but they do seem to like Wills as more of a Tackle.

Yeah we’ll lose a few but we should be fine. I hope to see a full recruiting class in Feb (ranked in the top 3 or better), we’ll be loaded.

I think this team can still right the ship defensively (allowing 31 to Arkansas was just one game) and leave a legacy of being the best team Saban has had yet.

I'm not sure what's going on with him, but he looked completely worn out about halfway through the second quarter against Arkansas, and on their opening drive of the third quarter, he completely gave up on a third-down scramble.

I don't know if he's injured, or if the extra weight he put on isn't sitting well, or what, but his play has been underwhelming so far this year.

The Offense is going to be loaded, especially since the only notable loss at the skill positions is Damien Harris. I think the OL will be pretty good, as we will have returned 3 guys who have at least 1 full season of starting. I suspect that Leatherwood will move back to LT, Womack will line up at RT, and Wills will slide over to RG. IMO, Chris Owens and Deonte Brown are the most likely candidates to start at C and LG, respectively, and both have (and will continue to get) a lot of playing time in blowout games.

Defensively, I see us losing Buggs, Davis, Wilson, Jennings, Miller and Thompson, although I think there's an outside chance that Mack returns for his Senior year, as he's not projected to be a 1st round draft pick. The secondary should be very good, and LB should be fine with Lewis and Allen returning in addition to bringing in a stud LB class. Keep in mind we have a good chance of signing 2/3 of Thibodeaux, Dean, and To'oto'o. IMO, the DL will be deeper but the starters won't be as talented, as Williams, Ray, and Mathis will return, Wynn should step into the rotation, and we will have 2-3 freshman who will probably be ready to contribute from day one (Alfano, Eboigbe, Young), and we can still add Sopsher.

Are you saying 3-peat? It ok, Saban hardly ever reads this board.

Mack needs to come back, he isn't a 1st rounder. Could become one next year, he isn't 100% healthy this year.

Thompson could use another year of experience, he hasn't played much.

Jonah, a top ten pick and Davis are the only two I see 100% jumping to the NFL.

He's a 4th year player, RS Junior, he may not have a lot of on the field PT, but he's playing like a first round guy and there's no way he passes that up after already doing 4 years of college to get more PT in college.

I'd love to see him back, and not 100% ruling it out because anything is possible, but it just seems extremely unlikely barring a complete fall off for the rest of the season.

Can't really see Thompson coming back. He's probably a top ten pick; compares really well to Malik Hooker who also only started one year iirc.

Q Williams should leave if he keeps up his current level of play. He could also go in the top ten. Which would kinda leave us screwed on the dline if Davis leaves as well.

2019 will be the first official year UGA is favored over your podunk school. I can't wait for the meltdown when Saban leaves your sorry state.

Your sorry dogass can dream, but no,you won't be favored in 2019 either. 2020 will be the first year you can hope for some relief to Forty years of wandering in the football desert.
Just a hope not a guarantee! That is if Smart does not completely pass through the shithorn by then.
Glad you still think highly of Saban cause he ain't going anywhere till he retires Kirby

Bama will be preseason number 1 again in 2019.

If Tua leaves after next year, 2020 will be a huge rebuilding year for the Tide. Bama will lose a TON of players off the 19 team.
