Do we ever get any news out of these scrimmages?

Thanks! Yes, that's what I was looking for, I think. I knew CAJ, Key, and Ingram had been interviewed.

Goodman or someone will usually say what player looked good and what team won. No stats can be released.

Looks like Baylor is #24, one spot ahead of us in the USA Today poll.

Are they supposed to be pretty good this year?

Hopefully they are and this gives the staff and players a solid preseason test.

I'm sure they will be. They've won 22+ games for 6 straight years.

Yeah, and they are always super athletic.

Might be a good opportunity for Avery to get the guys pushing tempo and running full speed like he’s been preaching for 3 years.

I’m really excited to see what this team looks like running the fast break.

We could be electric in that area.

I've taken a long hard look at our pre-conference schedule trying to get an idea of what the best and worse case record scenarios are going into conference play. I'm thinking best case scenario is 10-2. @Arizona is the only sure loss but I think with the difficult schedule we lose at least one more somewhere. Absolute worse case scenario is 5-7 which isn't impossible even for as good as we should be if we have a lot of close games that we don't catch any breaks in. The schedule is pretty brutal and anything 8-4 or better sets us up really well RPI wise going into conference play IMHO

What are y'alls thoughts about our prospects with the pre conference schedule?

I'm aiming for 9-3.

Losses @Zona, vs Minnesota, and one of Rhode Island, UT Arlington, UCF, La Tech, or Texas

I'm gonna say we finish around 9-3. Losses to Arizona, Minnesota or BYU (not both), and an unexpected loss.

I wouldn't say sure loss regardless, but I'm not so sure Arizona is out of the woods with the FBI or NCAA just yet. There was a confirmed payment to one of their current players (probably a good one) so there is at the very least eligibility concerns.

Opponent Preview : Lipscomb

Last Season
20-13 (11-3)
2nd in the Atlantic Sun
Notable Games Won @Mizzou (5 pts), Lost @UT (15 pts) and @Cincinnati (23 pts)
RPI: 189
Kenpom: 165

Preseason
Return the majority of the roster
Guard Garrison Mathews and F Rob Marberry named preseason all conference

Projected Lineup
G Nathan Moran 5'10" - 11.1/2.2/4.2 SR
G Kenny Cooper 6'0" - 6.9/2.2/3.0 SO
G Garrison Mathews 6'5" - 20.4/5.6/2.3 JR
F Rob Marberry 6'7" - 12.7/4.9/2.1 JR
C George Brammeier 6'10" - 6.8/3.2/0.6 SR

Analysis
This team scares me a little bit because they can score. How much Brammeier actually plays will be interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if they place Marberry at the five against us and try to beat us with skill in the post. Hall has struggled with skilled undersized bigs before. We should be able to physically dominate this team and control the boards though.

Opponent Preview : Alabama A&M

Last Season
2-27 (2-16)
Last in the SWAC
RPI: 351
Kenpom: 351

Preseason
Donnie Marsh was named as the new head coach. He was the associate head coach of Texas Southern

Projected Lineup
G De'Ederick Perry 6'0" - 13.3/3.0/1.3 SO
G Ariston Johnson 6'0" - 2.6/1.3/1.2 SO
G Marcus Merriweather 6'2" - 5.5/1.5/0.8 SR
F Tracey Burnett 6'4" - 6.0/3.1/0.4 SO
F Mohamed Sherif 6'9" - 4.9/3.4/0.2 JR

Analysis
Believe it or not AAMU was actually loaded with seniors last season. If even possible, they might actually be worse this year. This isn't a D1 quality program at the moment.

And I believe they lost a 5 star commit recently. Which could mean he's been checking into the FBI stuff and doesn't like what he's hearing. They might be in turmoil by the time we play them.

Looks like I was wrong about no stats being released because point totals are coming out for players in that game.

It's up to the school if they want to release stats according to @BamaRoundball
