One of my favorite games. The discrepancy between us and them that game was so stark. We had a rough season that year, but that game was as dominant of a performance over a good team as I remember seeing from an Alabama team. By middle of the second quarter it was obvious Michigan State had given up due to our physicality. Would love to see something similar against Michigan to end the year right and take some momentum into next year.

I was literally worried about Kirk Cousins’ health in that game. It was that bad. Upshaw hit him so hard from the blind side one time that I thought he might be dead. That was a pissed off defense going against an extremely overmatched O Line.

Funny story - I watched this game with my Dad and brother in Key West (parents live there) at their favorite sports bar. We were sitting at a table behind the bar under the Bama flag my Dad brought up there. They're locals, so they come here for basically every game, so boss man let them hang the flag. After the opening kickoff, I guess they lit up the returner or something and this Michigan State fan sitting at the bar right in front of us turned around, looked me square in the eyes and said "THAT'S BIG 10 FOOTBALL"
Safe to say, he left at halftime and I didn't let him forget that quote and he heard a ton of "THAT'S SEC FOOTBALL" throughout the half (probably more from pops)

I was at that game. During the pregame warmups it was obvious there was a whole different breed of cat wearing crimson compared to the ones in green. I looked at my buddy before the coin toss and said, "This game is over."

From the game forward was the beginning of the dynasty.

Wrong. Dynasty began in 2009.

A lot of things went south for Bama in 2010, but that was a ridiculously talented team that had no business in a Citrus bowl. The Spartans found that out soon enough.

Yet some people on this board actually WANT a few of our players to skip the Citrus Bowl. fricking idiots.

And not a one of those kids were thinking about sitting out a bowl game. Can you imagine Julio sitting out a game?
Those teams wanted to rip peoples heads off, that’s where I want to get back to.

Now that you mention it, I guess a major difference is now that the "process" has been established so long, a lot of players come specifically because this program keeps putting players in the NFL, so their focus isn't as much on winning titles as assuring their own NFL payday. That kind of player may be more likely to take a play off once in a while, especially when that play, and the camera, is going away from them. We all know, though, that sometimes that play comes back toward them, especially if Waddle has the ball. Course, it's not just one play once in a while, but attitude and commitment every game, every practice, all the time.

We’d all love to see that but this is a different game now. No way we are that dominant against Michigan. I still remember Sabn getting actually upset because we broke a long like 75yd run straight up the gut late 4th qtr and Saban was just trying to run clock out. Not that he was mad but his reaction on the sideline was priceless.

if devonta, ruggs and waddle play against michigan, its game over. michigan dont have a single defender that can cover any of them, much less all three.

I saw something in that game that I have never seen in 50 years of watching football before or since that game: Michigan State had to punt on 4th and goal.

I was also. Another thing that I remember, aside from MSU punting on 4th and goal, is that at halftime all the concession stands on my side of the field were out of soft drinks. I vowed to never return to a game at The Citrus Bowl.

One of the funniest quotes I saw after the game was on a thread........said Saban loves defense so much, that he hates when his own offense scores.

That was a pure beatdown....unfortunately we don't have the same level of talent that we used to.

Not sure why you were downvoted for stating a fact:
The 2010 offensive line: Carpenter, Warmack, Vlachos, Jones, Fluker. That's three first-round draft picks, plus Jones, who was a three-time All-American and both an Outland and Rimington winner. So there's no debate about the OL.
No question the 2010 defense had more talent. Dareus, Chapman, Hightower, Upshaw, Kirkpatrick, Menzie, Barron, and Lester. If those guys are playing today, we're undefeated.
We had backups in 2010 who would likely start today. Mosley, Square, Stinson, Nico Johnson, Dee Milliner

Yea not sure how that can get downvoted - the 2010 team, top to bottom, is probably the most talented Alabama team of the Saban era. It had flaws because a lot of that talent was raw (defense especially), but just in terms of pure player 1-85 talent that group was insane.

I'm not sure anyone on today's OL gets many meaningful snaps in 2010. Leatherwood and Wills could be 1st round picks, but Carpenter and Fluker were first-round picks and still start in the NFL today.
