****3/08 UPDATE on last page****

Greg Byrne updated today.

Maybe we should have a pinned thread to prevent multiple threads over the next few months and just update this one.

There are going to be rapid changes as this will all be completed in the next 9 months and as many as 600 workers on multiple sites throughout BDS...

Video of new tunnel.

Video of Recruiting Lounge expanding from 6K to 12,000 square feet.

Video of Lockerroom

West side concourse work & foundation for new elevators & stairs. You can see the new mix-use condos going up next to the stadium.

Old video boards have been removed and starting framing for the four new boards that will be significantly larger and higher quality

View from the new location of the press box on the opposite side.
You can see across the way that U1, U2, the old pressbox, president's box and Ivory Club are cleared out and shells now.

Wish they would wrap the whole upper deck around

Have you gotten word yet on where they'll be offering you seats for next year? Friends had seats in U2 and are being displaced and last time I talked to them they were pissed and felt like UA was jerking them around. They've had those seats since that upper deck was built.

The University sent everyone who is being moved a letter right before Christmas detailing the process. While it was frustrating that it took this long to let us know what the deal was, the letter was pretty detailed and sounded like a fair and sound process

- Nobody who is moving pays Tide Pride right now, once new seats are selected Tide Pride dues will be paid at that seat area level

- Sometime in March we will get into a seat selection software (I'm assuming much like I use to pick Braves season ticket seats) that will show us all available season ticket locations and the donation level for them. We can pick wherever we want to go out of that. The order of people being able to pick is based on how many points you have.

- Then, I assume, any left over seats will be offered to people on the waiting list.

So, assuming the sections I have requested have available seats I think it all should work out ok.

Not a bad process, but yeah that's really late to let people know. I haven't spoken to them since around Thanksgiving, and at that time they were leaning to just giving up their tickets they were so frustrated with the process. They never buy road or bowl game tickets so I'd imagine their points are on the low end and they'd get seats they don't like anyway. I don't think she's missed a home game since the 90's, so maybe they'll calm down by March.

It was pretty frustrating all around - especially because they were booting a bunch of folks who had had tickets there for a LONG time (we'd only been there for 5-6 years, lots around us like your friends for 20-30 years), and the University just kind of acted like it was no big deal.

I've got an older friend at church and some that sit around us who decided to hell with it, we don't want to move and gave up their seats. I'm guessing there will be quite a few others like that too.

My daughter was telling me students were dressing up like construction workers and getting the old stadium seats that were in a pile at the site. Unfortunately she did not get me one.

Ha. That old University warehouse by the bridge on 15th St had a row of 3 seats from Coleman sitting outside it when I was a student. We rolled up and asked some guy working there if we could have them. He told us to come back later that afternoon and he'd help us load them up. They were on our front porch the last couple of years I was a student. We left them there for the next occupants. He probably got fired for giving them to us.

I can't believe all of this was paid by the fund that was opened up by The Strip when Sark came back to campus.

Check your facts man. This is all being paid for with the funds from that great Nike contract Battle negotiated.

By the way, Byrne said the old video boards are being destroyed by Daktronics with the exception of the least sun-damaged one which is going to be put up at the Bama Soccer field.

I may update Rhoades Stadium construction here too. But the last pics are from over a month ago.

Renovations are being made to the stadium’s press box, clubhouse while constructing new concessions, restrooms, umpire lockerroom and two suites and expansion of the brickyard.

It's a $3 million project. Season is 30 days away so it needs to be completed soon.

I had the same seats in U2-B since Tide Pride's inception. My brother got one of the seats, had a friend to fix a base for it and gave it to me for Christmas. I'm pretty adamant in demanding that my family not give me Christmas presents but I have to admit I got a little teary eyed when I got it.
