Strider on why the Mets are so good at grinding out ABs: "I don’t know. It helps when they’re getting calls and 1-1 counts turn to 2-1 counts instead of 1-2 counts, and stuff like that. When your BABIP is .330, .340 as a team, it’s tough to get quick innings and get quick outs.”

“We obviously didn’t play well in all phases of the game,” Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson said. “Offensively, I didn’t think we had a lot of consistent at-bats. Defensively, there were a lot of miscues, not just errors, but with free passes and giving up extra bases. The pitching was inefficient with pitch counts and stuff of that nature.”

Mets are playing great baseball. However, think back to last year. Everyone saying Dodgers gonna repeat out of the NL.
Sometime in September last season, the ole injury bug hit their pitching staff. Thus, they weren't the same come playoff time.
Mets staff with DeGrom/Sherzer are a great 1/2 combo. However, both have had past bad luck with injuries. So, stay tuned.
On the hitting side for our guys, we've got far too many guys swinging for the fences. Not trying to get on base in any way. On base percentage for a few of our guys is dreadful.

Yep, agreed.

Although i'd like to add one more thing - our series with Boston shouldn't be that hard to win.

They've been struggling recently (went 4-6 in the last 10 games they've played, they're also under .500 right now) and I think this is an ample opportunity for the Braves to bring back momentum.

Hope everything goes in our favor in the 2 game series, would like a nice rebound from the Mets series.

It's game day today!

The Braves are off to Boston in a 2-game series and I hope we don't struggle at Fenway - Boston hasn't been great recently and I feel like there's a big chance to win here.

My Prediction? - I don't have one, just want a Braves win, and hopefully a big one tonight.

Still recovering from that arse kicking in NY. Winning a 5 game series in New York when you’re throwing Ian and a 6th man was going to be tough but I was hoping to at least take 2.

Ah...well, It was going to be rough, but hey, you can't win em all.

This 2-game series against Boston should really help us.

Atlanta Braves' Orlando Arcia headed to IL after injuring hamstring

quote:

Atlanta Braves second baseman Orlando Arcia drove in a key run against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night -- but it is expected to cost him a trip to the injured list.

Arcia gave the Braves a 7-6 lead in the 10th inning when he drove in automatic runner Eddie Rosario.

But Arcia hurt himself coming around first and limped into second before pulling up lame and being tagged out as he overran the bag.

Braves manager Brian Snitker said the diagnosis is a left hamstring injury that will land Arcia on the IL.

"He heard it pop, and that's never good," Snitker said.

The Red Sox tied the game in the bottom of the 10th, before Austin Riley had a go-ahead, two-run single in the 11th inning to rally the Braves to a 9-7 win.

Atlanta Braves call up top prospect Vaughn Grissom to majors with Orlando Arcia put on IL
quote:

The Atlanta Braves called up top prospect Vaughn Grissom to the majors on Wednesday in a series of moves that included placing second baseman Orlando Arcia on the 10-day injured list because of a strained left hamstring.

The 21-year-old Grissom, an infielder, is hitting .324 with an .899 OPS at two levels of the Braves' minor league system and is currently with Double-A Mississippi, where he was hitting .363 in 22 games. He has 14 home runs and 67 RBIs total in the minors this season.

Grissom has played shortstop, third base and second base in the minors and likely will be called on to play second base in the majors with Arcia on the IL and Ozzie Albies still sidelined by a fractured left foot.

This is the second time this season the Braves have called up their top prospect from Double-A to the majors. In May, the Braves recalled center fielder Michael Harris II from Mississippi. He has hit .288 with 10 homers and 34 RBIs in the big leagues and has played stellar defense in center field.

Arcia suffered the injury running to second base in the 10th inning of the Braves' 9-7 11-inning victory over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.

Besides placing Arcia on the IL, the Braves also reinstated right-handed reliever Kirby Yates from his rehabilitation assignment. Yates is returning from Tommy John surgery for the second time. He had the most recent surgery in March of last year. He had a 1.08 ERA over 8? innings pitched in eight appearances during his rehab assignment.

The Braves also reinstated infielder Mike Ford from the IL and designated him for assignment, transferred outfielder Adam Duvall to the 60-day IL. In addition, right-hander Huascar Ynoa was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett following Tuesday night's game.

This is really surprising because Demeritte came up through the minors as a second baseman, even though he hasn't played there this year. I know Michael Harris's start was really good, but i don't think Grissom is nearly as polished. Grissom only walked 4 times in July and none in August. He will get taken advantage of at this level if he can't lay off and be patient. However, I think if Grissom does well, I don't think the Braves really even try to resign Dansby. Probably just put in an offer so they get the draft pick when we signs elsewhere.

I like the call up of Grissom. If he's the best option, go for it.
The guy whose the automatic out is Ozuna.
He's getting worse as the season winds down.

Damn I should go to this game tonight but Red Sox games last forever. I would have been pissed if I was there last night for 11 innings . Damn I got old.

That got me wondering, whats the average attendance for Boston this year?

It is down partly because they fell off the pace and partly because the fans don't expect them to re-sign any of the few good players they currently have.

Still most of that stuff is already sold so you really wouldn't see much change with the official numbers.

Boston is 10th (so far) this season, and 11th last year.

Doesn't seem like they've taken a hit in attendance.

Interesting!

How long has it been since you've last been at Fenway?

A few weeks ago, whenever they played the Blue Jays in Boston last, but like for 2 innings cause it was a thousand degrees and my wife HATES the Red Sox.

Prior to that, 2019.

ETA: I'm saying down related to a typical year, not any of the COVID stuff.

His BABIP is dismal. Up until about a month ago his average exit velo was actually really good which means he was barreling everything up, but hitting the ball right at people. That's pure bad luck.

He's had an unreal streak of bad luck, but I do believe it's in his head now, and he's definitely looking like a dude that has lost all confidence. Karma ? IDK What I do know is he's an automatic out.

Grissom’s first ML hit is a HR over the green monster.
