Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin revealed on the SEC Coaches Teleconference Wednesday that wide receiver Deion Smith will not be part of the Rebels football program.
The former four-star recruit began his career at LSU in 2021. During his freshman season with the Tigers, Smith appeared in six games and caught 11 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns.
Smith left LSU after his freshman season and ended up at Holmes Community College in Mississippi, where he logged 48 catches for 1,063 yards and 12 touchdowns in eight games. He was rated the No. 1 overall JUCO transfer before committing to Ole Miss.
Coach Kiffin did not go into details about Smith's situation, but there are reports that the decision is academics-related.
