Is Jerry Rice the best NFL WR of all time? This practice footage of him years back, is pretty damn good evidence...

What made Rice different was his separation. Speed becomes less of a factor when you can put that much distance between you and your cover man. Which is why it took someone like Prime to close that distance quickly to make a play. And there are very few guys like Prime, either. His hand work was exemplary. He moved defensive backs where he needed them to be in order to gain that separation for space. I can't think of anyone better at that.

Rice created the demand for the great defensive back.

The crazy part is he isn't that fast but he could really sell routes.

He could take over a game. I doubt Steve Young wins that Super Bowl without Jerry.

Rice remains the best WR ever. While there are current players that are better route runners, it's only because he transcended the skill.

Absolutely the GOAT. On a side note, I met him in the G’ville mall in 1988. What a humble and gracious man. We talked sports and life for about 25 minutes. He had no entourage and was just so kind.
