Yeah, college athletes get absolutely nothing in return. (Sarcasm font)

NCAA should just tweet out..."You spelled 'Thank you' wrong, but we know how to spell 'You are welcome, Todd" correctly. If players get paid then I think it should be retroactive too. Half+, after taxes, etc, of what they get goes to a trust for all the former players that worked hard to get them what they are getting. Like even for the dead. Heck go off of espns 150 years worth of cfb. Hey...reparations, amirite?!?!

And how many millions did Todd make off of Georgia and the NCAA?

Sure you really suffered as a scholarship football star at UGA, Todd. Try being maybe a cross country runner at a place like northwestern state or a woman’s field hockey player at central Kansas. Then maybe I’ll give you some sympathy.

Or maybe you should pay more money and go support women's field hockey and cross country.

I'm too the point where we tell kids that feel "used by the system", bye. Keep it amateur athletes and let them go play where they can get paid. Even if it lowers the talent level in CFB.

Absolutely agree. College football would survive.

My respect for Todd Gurley just dropped significantly.

This is why I don't watch the NFL. The league could crater and I would love it.

He is right. The NCAA is all about one thing.

$44,978 per year I would have taken that as an 18 year old fresh out of high school! I made $10 hour working construction to pay my way through college! This generation of athletes are spoiled brats! It's a damn joke!
user avatar

Then you should have shut up and put in the hours those athletes did to train their bodies to earn those scholarships.

I did arse wipe and walked on and earned a scholarship! I watched too many athletes not claim scholarship checks to pile up and 3 months later go and get tattoos! Where do you think the sleeves tats most athletes have come from? Avg Cost is $150 and hour to get tatted! Go back to your wagon son and sell peaches!

athletes get full ride scholarships, use of billions of dollars-worth of facilities, access to top notch coaching, trainers, nutrition, tutors, get massive exposure under the brand of the school and via television and media, opportunity to make business contacts that can pay off handsomely after graduation, etc. And doesn't he know that the NCAA isn't a bunch of fat cats stuffing their pockets. Most of the money goes back to the member universities.

The NCAA president just got a raise, to $2.4 million per year. Maybe he is there for the money.

They have early morning meetings or time in the weight room; afternoon practice; team meetings; games; recovery in the training room; film study in the evening; and the threat of severe injury. They help the university and their coaches bank.

Everyone hates the NCAA until a player speaks out against them. Gurley is right.
