The New York Jets Are Targeting Peyton Manning To Be Their New GM
© Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports
After firing Mike Maccagnan earlier this past week, the New York Jets are looking for a new General Manager and the person they're targeting is Peyton Manning. Per Mike Florio at Pro Football Talk...
quote:

“Rumors are flying within league circles that the Jets may make a run at the future Hall of Fame quarterback who has periodically been linked to NFL management possibilities. And Gase, who worked with Manning in Denver, possibly would be one of the few guys who could draw Manning back into football.”

I think PM is one of those guys that could pretty much do anything they want in the world of football. The dude is sooo football smart. I would be ok if my team took a chance on him at GM... That being said, the Jets will find a way to screw this up.

Is Elway a great GM? Well he doesn’t exactly suck. I think Manning could do well. Very well. I’d rather he do that than try to be a announcer.

I have no reason to believe he wouldn’t be great at it.

I am not saying he couldn't be great but how many former players are good or great GM's? Would anyone say that John Elway is a great GM? Especially going from the playing field to the top job in a front office without any in between. Nothing against PM but if I am the Jets I am going after a experienced young front office guy.
