He was a solid baseball player. I heard he tried out with a high school teammate at the original Diamondbacks field tryouts and impressed.

MLB used to not let that happen. You had to were a uniform to take BP or sit in dugout. Now just trowing out first pitch nobody cares.

Did the LSU fans get irate at Reed for leaving the state and going to Miami like they do now when elite players leave the state? How did LSU let a player like Ed from St Rose leave the state?

Very few elite players from NO wanted to play at LSU during that timeframe. Maybe 10%.

That’s a solid answer buddy. At that time DiNardo was trying to build the fence around Louisiana and it was right before Saban fortified that fence. I bet Ed would have been Red Stick bound if Saban had recruited him.

Kevin Faulk was the beginning of new times at LSU. Recruiting information came from Magazines. I'm not sure other than locals new Reed left the state. The 2 Catholic High RB's that went to FSU (I may be wrong) were more high profile losses.

His brother jumped off the Gramecy or Luling bridge?

He didn't jump off either, he just simply walked into the river close to the Luling bridge.

He might be an improvement on the Orioles roster. They wre once one of the more consistently successful franchises.

When he played 14-15 babe ruth at jefferson playground, i still remember him throwing out a guy from the left field fence to home. He had a serious arm. Went by the name pumpkin and played with jonathan wells of ohio st on the 9-10 football team at the playground. Needless to say they dominated football at that age.
