Urban Meyer Actually Did Meet With Texas Officials This Week
Joe Maiorana-USA TODAY Sports
I guess Longhorns fans were right. According to a report from Football Scoop, both University of Texas president Jay Hartzell and athletics director Chris Del Conte flew to meet with Urban Meyer earlier this week. Mind you, Tom Herman is still the head coach...
quote:

“They’re doing everything they can do to convince him,” said a source with direct knowledge of the talks between Texas officials and Meyer.

Texas’ ability to lure Meyer out of retirement after two years has been considered by most to be a long shot.

Good to see the heart attacks subsiding again.

Does no one do business like men should anymore? Fire him first—don’t go behind his back only to have it leak and make both of you look like chumps.

It's what they do in Austin.

Hard to feel bad for a guy making as much money as he is (And will if he's fired). This is business 101. Happens all of the time. Don't get too much into the feels.

If you can't win big in Texas you're either a shitty coach or shitty program manager. Or both. Meyer or Saban would spend like 10 minutes recruiting Texas and have 25 4 and 5 stars signed on the dotted line, and another 50 begging to get in. College Football better hope Meyer likes retirement or it will be Alabama, Texas, clemson, and Ohio State's world. and the rest will be fighting over the scraps.

So basically the current situation but with OU and Texas switched.

At least until he has to resign because of another "health condition".

For his own health, he should stay retired.

This might cause me to me to move if they start winning. They are the most arrogant and delusional fanbase in America. Well them and then A&M.

Yeah no one deserves that. Even Tom Herman. I’m not sure I’d blame him if he burned the place down on his way out.
user avatar

‘Figuratively burned the place down, that is. Like tell every committed recruit to go look elsewhere

Could care less about what UT does, but it's sad to see what universities do to people. 2.5 years in and they expect a championship or something? They became a shite program and it's going to take a few seasons to get things sorted out. Plus, they going after a coach that's going to retire again in 3 years because heart attacks.

But AFTER he gets another national championship at his 3rd school

Herman has had four years and was left with a decent roster when he arrived. Saban turned both Bama and LSU around in less time as did Meyer at UF and tOSU. Meyer is one of the only "can't miss" coaches in the game.

And just think, tRant wanted Herman sooooooo bad, people were calling O supporters every name in the book...gotta love it...

Boss move would be Woodward getting Herman as OC for 500k/yr to make it seem legit, and let Texas pick up the rest of his salary. Let him install a new offense for a year then he can go be a head coach somewhere else.

Texas doesn’t fire Herman unless Urban says yes. It may not be over for him. Still, I’m glad he rejected us.

Texas will be good for him. Hard to bail out on a team with weak excuses if you don't have a team.

not very nice of Urban to take that meeting while his boy kissy face is still their coach.
