Baylor head coach Matt Rhule took the new Carolina Panthers head coach position on Tuesday. Rhule didn't get to meet with his team to tell them the news before they caught wind of it, so this was the text he sent his Baylor players...

Why did he leave? Per The Athletic...
quote:

“I came here with a purpose. I felt like I was called here for much more than just coming to coach football. I felt like I was here to, more important than anything else, get the football program back in line with the university. And I know we’ve done that. And I felt like we did that, really, after the first year. I would’ve been at peace saying ‘Hey, it’s time for me to move on’ after the first year. So there’s a different challenge ahead for me.

“I wasn’t sure when it was supposed to be, I wasn’t sure what I would do. I prayed on it, I thought about it, I talked to people about it. And in the end, I would’ve loved to have been here and coached those kids again. But they’re in good hands. They’ll win and they’ll continue to do things right off the field. I just felt like my work was done and it was time to go try to turn around another program.”

Yep. Unfortunately there are only a small number of jobs that you strive for, and Baylor isn't one of them. I hate to say it but coaches have to move when they are hot, cause sticking around can just cause you to miss opportunities.

"I prayed on it." Funny how God never tells them to go coach at some small Christian school or on a poor Indian reservation. It seems God really wants the coaches to make big bucks.

He was smart to leave for the NFL. His stock will never be higher than it is right now. If he would’ve turned them down, he probably would have never got another chance to coach at that level.

"Why did he leave?" A $60 million contract probably had something to do with it.

Says something about him not giving the Browns the time of day, but taking the Panther's job. Browns will continue to be a dumpster fire.

It also says something that you think that “Panthers” needs an apostrophe.

You can always just put the group text on mute...

Coaches in college have apps that will send texts out “individually” that can’t be replied to. Our track coach did it all the time my last couple years competing. I’m sure this is what he used.

"Don't worry, guys. I'm leaving, but the new guy is from LSU and he's bringing half the staff with him."

He turned those college boys around and is going to turn Cam around. The difference is, Cam likes it.
