Texas Tech's football program is getting into the NIL game, big time. Shortly after announcing a $200 million facilities upgrade, every Texas Tech player is reportedly set to land a $25,000 NIL contract...

so they are employees then? What are they expected to do for this move other than show up for practice/games? I'm assuming classes is optional.

Dumb. Mediocre rated players will jump on offers. High rated players will NOT accept only 25k. They will sign elsewhere. Stupid move

maybe, but elite players will go where the money is the biggest. So paying the third-string punter the same as the starters won't do much to keep the elite talent there.
