SEC’s Commissioner's 'Advice' For UCF’s Football Program Is Not Going Over Well
Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports
SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey made some comments about UCF that aren't exactly winning people over...
quote:

“We had a similar issue in men’s basketball a couple years ago, when we only had three schools selected for the tournament,” Sankey said, according to ASU Sports Law & Biz. “Rather than looking at the committee, the schedule, etc., we need to look inward. How can we do better for ourselves?”

Ah, yes, the tone deaf SEC commissioner who doesn't bother to hear his own member institutions at face value nor act upon legit internal league matters telling an outside program it's all on "them". Shocking I tell you.

Nice to know he’s giving UCF bulletin board material before they play LSU.

Sankey knew exactly what he was doing. Payback.

How about UCF play a full 12 games before their league championship game, for once? This is the second year in a row they've missed a game due to weather.

I have no idea how it’s any of Stankey’s business but he’s right. UCF can schedule big time OOC opponents ala FSU in the early 80s. They didn’t demand home & home series. They wanted to kick down the door.

No they can't. In the 80s FSU was an independent and there were about 25-30 other independents around so it wasn't that difficult for them to set their schedules. UCF is in an era where there are just 5 independents and about half the conferences play 9 conference games. Add to that most OOC games are scheduled 5-10 years down the line. There simply is no way in hell they could build a FSU styled schedule with the realities of today.

Right. Plus good teams aren’t going to want to schedule UCF now

Regardless if Sankey believes that or not he should have the tact to not say that. Another example of him making bad decisions or thinking something through.

This is not going to help the perception among the fan base that the SEC hates LSU.

Dumbass, the SEC doesn't hate LSU. LSU hates Sankey...and his punchable Milktoast mug.

Do you even go on tRant? They’re talking about the perceived bias all the time on there. What part of fan base and perception are above your comprehension...dumbass

Well although he seems to be a smug little man he is correct in this case when answering this question. Bottom line is UCF has to schedule better OOC opponents since there league isn’t a P5 league and that’s on them to do so period.

The problem with Ucf is the athletic director wants only home and homes with P5 teams. Said this on Sirius. He said they had been turned down numerous times. Well, yea. What sankey is saying is just that. P5 teams will play, just not home and home and the ucf ad said their days of playing games for just money are over. Sorry UCF, u gotta pull a Florida state of the early 80s and take your show on the road. Florida state couldn't even get auburn. They had to do a 2 for 1 with them. Nebraska got FSU to come to Lincoln like 4 straight times.

They think they are better than what they are. Ever since Daunte upset Bama they think enrollment numbers and that win gives them the right to think like a P5 team....and this was in the mid-00s that they were thinking this way. I lived there at the time with a wife who was an asst coach and a family friend who was a staff member. They brought in Orsini from Notre Dame who was a master at funding an entire athletic complex. (When we first got there their was a swampy area right where the 50 yard line is in the stadium now and replacing a HS size “arena” with a pond in front of it where they filled in and built a normal sized one.) He left for SMU after the money was coming in but the structures were starting to be built. Replacing him was a racist SJW who fired almost every white coach and replaced most of them with his own. He managed to privatize the department but then had to pay out millions after his guys killed a football kid. That put them in a Notre Dame money making system along with a Florida coach paying structure. They’ve seemed to be the “first left out” in every round of conference musical chairs and as an institution snapped going full renegade “National Champion” mode after last year.

To some degree he's right. But he should remember waves he generates as the SEC Commissioner. He doesn't need to be providing bulletin board material for an upcoming SEC foe. Just because there's some truth in what he said doesn't mean he was right to say it

He's right. UCF is acting like a prima donna that cant understand why the veterans of their trade dont respect them. Typical millennials. We've seen this show before. Where is Boise St now? They are solid, but not the same. No big school is going to set-up a home and home with a school that may or may not be winning the same in a few yrs. The lost the coach that got them where they are too, and will lose the QB for sure after next yr, if not earlier. Anyway...LSU better beat them or they will hang an SEC Champ sign up in their stadium.
