He will be there 3 years tops and the school/program will be worse off than when he took over. Example: Prime Prep (no longer exists) and Trinity Christian Cedar Hill (got kicked out of their conference in all sports, declining enrollment)

The changing conferences part is interesting. I wonder if JSU is considering leaving the SWAC?

No worries. If he does well, he'll be getting a Power-5 paycheck.

It's not like he needs the money, and it will bring in way more than it will cost.

Look at the history of Tennessee State University football. They were once playing HBCUs in football, including Jackson State University. Over the years, the school moved out of their conference and migrated into the Ohio Valley Conference. The school now qualifies for more federal and state funds with more business and research grants - opportunities, unlike previously. That has been a big financial gain for the university, when compared to where they were prior to moving in the Ohio Valley Conference. Deon’s vision would be a winner for everyone. I was not a Sander’s fan in pro football, but I am a fan of his now. If you look at his impact at one institution that does not receive the same resources as MSU, Ole Miss, and USM, but if they are able to do what TSU has done, it will be a win-win situation in the long-run. Deon at JSU is not a joke. The key will be him winning at the school. Everything else is possible as for moving JSU into a smaller football conference like Tennessee State University did years ago.

Deon is going win at the school. The school needs to prepare for his departure after four years for another job up. Deon’s son is a talented QB. Once he assembles his coaching staff, he will get his share of three-star athletes to coach up. He has brought over $19 million to the school in sponsorship contracts in one month. He has also aligned the school with a Recruiting Analytics company to help him identify h.s.talent that fits his criteria. He recently reeled in a three-star DL from Las Vegas, NV. He will win. Mark it down!

Deion seems like a class act. I think he'll do well. Sounds like a great deal for all involved.

On the Herm Edwards to Isaiah Thomas scale of these big names taking odd jobs at random places, I would say that he is probably a Barry Melrose. It’s purely a gimmick hire that really won’t pay off
