virginia Fan Bites The Dust Hopping Fence To Storm The Court After Title Win, here's video...

Right now, Clemson and Georgia will play one another in 2029 in Clemson, 2030 in Athens, 2032 in Athens and 2033 in Clemson. Which is fine with Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney, because he wants to play the Bulldogs every year. Per DawgNation...
quote:

“We should play Georgia every year if it was up to me,” Swinney said. “We’re 80 miles, and they need a game, we need a game. We had to travel to Texas A&M last year, when we could have gone 80 miles.”

[…]

“For years and years and years, Clemson and Georgia played every year, and somewhere along the line that went away,” Swinney said.

“It’s a tough game because they are one of the best teams in the country, but it’s great game for the fans, and we have to play people. I’d just as soon play them than have to go all the way somewhere else to get a game.”
Georgia fans, do you want this to happen?

It was an annual game back when I was a student. And it was huge. Would be fun to bring it back as an annual event, but highly unlikely given our annual rout of gtech and the fact we are actually scheduling a pretty stiff non-sec opponent each year in the foreseeable future.

I wish every SEC team would have 1 permanent opponents set up with ACC and Big 12.

If they played UGA every year then they would have one tough game every year. Oh to be in the ACC.

Georgia will not have 2 permanent ACC opponents on its schedule - Georgia Tech and Clemson. One of them ain't going, and it isn't GT.

Agreed. But as a CFB it sucks because UGA/Clemson would be a far better rivalry with much more at stake than what UGA/Tech will be for the foreseeable future.

Clemson wants that game until Dabo goes to Bama

As much as I would like to see him come home ... it won't happen for many reasons.

Dabo is thinking about recruiting. 80 miles apart that's the same recruiting ground and if they can beat them in a head to head that'll tip the scale for some recruits.

Yep. He can use Trevor Lawrence as his poster child and now with Fields gone Georgia looks vulnerable after Fromm leaves.
user avatar
Datbayoubengal61 months
He doesn't have to use Lawrence as his poster child because Deshaun Watson already was.

Dabo already knows why Clemson isn't a permanent foe. But it is still smart to say.

Yeah UGA is really going to have two permanent OOC games. not everything is about you dabo...
user avatar

That would mean Clemson has 2 permanent OOC games too though...USCe and Georgia. USCe is generally easier than Tech but has gone the other way at times.

agreed.... uga nonconference needs an upgrade

In most seasons, this would not be an "upgrade" for Georgia's schedule.
