Is this the future of sports broadcasting? This Sunday's Detroit Tigers vs. Kansas City Royals game is going a different route and will not have TV announcers, instead will do some other non traditional stuff...
quote:

MLB Sunday Leadoff host and in-game reporter Ahmed Fareed, former Tigers outfielder and current Bally Sports Detroit analyst Craig Monroe, and NBC Sports’ Britney Eurton will take fans around Detroit’s Comerica Park throughout the game, providing viewers with a tour of the ballpark, unique viewpoints, conversations with special guests, and more.

“This is another way to take you out to the ball game and give the fans a unique experience,” said Sam Flood, NBC Sports Production Executive Producer & President. “We’re going to be fans of the game, taking you to different parts of the ballpark and engaging in a way that fans watch the game in the stadium.”

Remember when they tried an NBA game with no music and everyone hated it?

This will be worse than that.

They did this in the NFL in the 70s with a late season game (Dolphins-Bills I believe). People liked it but the announcers realized they would be out of a job and kind of buried it

In 1980 NBC had an NFL game with no announcers. David Woodley played for Miami. Had more graphics, and fields sounds. It was great.

I'm curious how it pans out. There are some announcers we can do without (NYY is a good example).
