Went to game at Abbeville high school around 1964. No fence..and I thought that was strange.

Seems like the pitcher would get destroyed by a hit ball a lot.

I spent some time in Helsinki. A Finn buddy asked me one afternoon if I wanted to go to a baseball game. I was pumped because the other big sports there are ice hockey and soccer. We got to “stadium” and I watched them play this....open jawed for about 15 minutes. Another rule in Finland; they sell beer but you can’t bring it to your seat. Concourse drinking only.

My HS didn't have a fence....alot of gap grounders led to "home runs" ...a river would a have definitely led to a more entertaining game ( we lost A LOT )

Pitching in baseball is objectively ridiculous - throw the ball as fast as you can through an imaginary window that gives the batter a chance to hit it without hitting it. The Finns have moved emphasis from pitching to fielding, I’m on board with that

Geez - no fences, just a river.
