The NCAA has officially approved the one-time transfer rule, which will allow student-athletes to transfer once and be immediately eligible at their new school.

Transfers

The Division I Board of Directors ratified the adoption of legislation expanding the one-time transfer exception to all student-athletes, no matter what sport they play. The Division I Council adopted the legislation, which allows all student-athletes who have not transferred in the past the opportunity to compete immediately after transfer once in their period of eligibility.

The rule is now effective and applies to all student-athletes who want to transfer for the first time for the 2021-22 academic year. If a student has previously transferred, the waiver process is available.

NCAA Super Teams are coming

Great for the student athletes, but just watch this process unfold. It’s about to be a complete circus with the transfer portal quadrupling the number of athletes. You may find teams looking completely different year to year. Good short term, may be bad long term.

Can we just get rid of the NCAA? It's a relic. Unneeded and incompetent.

This should be permanent. Why is the NCAA the governing body on where you can and can’t go to play sports. About time.

Is this only for this year or is this permanent?

Having to sit out a year is bullshite anyways. I transfered schools and couldnt compete my junior year. No point in it, I still got to have a good senior year in my sport, but it could have been better if I had experience as a junior, and given me a better than to go further with it. And it wasnt even the same sport that I played at first. Switched schools and sports and still had to sit.

HS sports to clarify, not college but apples to apples. Coach O could really use the rule to his advantage.

Can they transfer mid season? This could get very WWE like. Player changes jerseys right before the game. "Good God in heaven! He's got a crimson jersey below the orange and blue! He's shaking hands with Nick Saban!"

Umm, pretty sure you meant affect, the verb, not effect, the noun, and stop the uselessness. More importantly, can we keep our talent and get more from elsewhere?
