Sporting News ranked college football coaches 1-130 for 2019 season this week and pegged LSU coach Ed Orgeron at No. 15. Here's what they had to say about Coach O:
quote:

No. 15: Ed Orgeron, LSU
Last year: 36 (+21)
Record: 41-36 (25-9 at LSU)

Lowdown: What a difference a year makes for Coach O. He went from the hot seat to a New Year's Day Six victory. There are good vibes around Baton Rouge now, but the Alabama challenge still stands. The Tigers won five games against ranked teams last season, and Orgeron isn't one to back away from more challenges.
Orgeron was the fifth highest SEC coach on the list behind Flordia's Dan Mullen (No. 8), Georgia's Kirby Smart (No. 4), Texas A&M's, Jimbo Fisher (No. 3), and Alabama's Nick Saban (No. 1).

Gus at #19 is laughable. He has taken Auburn (a historical 8 win football team) to an overall average of 8 wins per year. AND he was able to do it in only 3 more games a year (14 vs 11). That is pure genius people.

I agree with you 100%.

Kirby Smart is nothing but a media darling as, like clockwork, he always loses his biggest games, has a losing record against SEC West teams, and even loses bowl games to inferior teams. Nonetheless, after this season, Orgeron's ranking will inevitably be quite a bit better. Moreover, no way would I rank Dan Mullen or Jimbo Fisher ahead of Orgeron.

They’re a combined 3-0 against him, so pleas explain. And how is a better ranking “inevitable?” I hope he goes 11-1, but I don’t think it’s “inevitable” that happens.

No way on O. The Rant said nobody would have this guy except LSU. I ready it here so it must be true.

I’m not throwing shade at O at all, but don’t be disingenuous, nobody was after O when we hired him. Syracuse didn’t even give him a look when he made it known that he’d be interested in taking their job

Jimbo is so overrated it make me laugh. Poor guy had to get bad calls to win 9 games

Should be on the hot seat this year. Tired of the excuses.
