Multiple sources are reporting that LSU wide receiver Deion Smith will be heading to JUCO football this upcoming season.

The former four-star prospect from Jackson, Mississippi (Provine HS), played in six games last season with 3 starts but dealt with a hamstring injury towards the end of the season. He finished with 11 receptions for 186 yards and two touchdowns.

Smith entered the transfer portal after last season and many believed he was headed to Ole Miss but academic issues reportedly kept him from transferring in the spring. He did not participate in LSU's spring football actiivies.

The news was first reported by Lonn Phillips and confirmed by Brody Miller of The Athletic.

I thought he looked pretty good early. Good luck to him. Glad he didn’t go to Old Piss tbh

I’d like to see him back in the LSU WR room at some point with a better head on his shoulders.

We'll see if it comes to pass. "#LSU receiver Deion Smith is expected to play JUCO ball in 2022, per a source, after academic issues held up potential transfers this spring". Anybody want to bet that "the source" was the original guy who posted it? Don't get burned Brodie.

Kid can be a top notch college & possibly NFL receiver if he will go to class & just try a little. Its unbelievable how many of these super athletic guys let it all slip away because their too lazy or undisciplined to make the grades.
