The LSU Board of Supervisors athletic committee approved the new two-year contract extension for wide receiver coach Mickey Joseph on Thursday.

Ed Orgeron hired Joseph to his staff as wide receiver coach in 2017 and gave him the title of assistant head coach in 2020. Per The Advocate:

Joseph's new two-year contract extension will pay him $500,000 in the first year and $550,000 the second year through March 31, 2023, according to a copy of the term sheet agreement between Joseph and the university.

Joseph, a 53-year-old Louisiana native, is entering the final year of his $407,000-per-year contract with LSU and was recently considered a candidate for the head coaching position at Southern University.
The LSU Board Committee also approved the contract for new women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey. Her eight-year contract will pay her $2.5 million for her first season and increase above $3 million by 2029.

You're talking about a HBCU school, those types of schools just don't have the budget to pay someone really well. They traditionally have done the best that they could in getting by, but they just don't have that type of money to compete with larger schools. It's hurting Jackson State budget right now employing Deion Sanders, but him being there is paying off big for them. shite, Idk, Sanders may be donating his salary to charity anyways, it wouldn't surprise me.
