Brian Kelly spoke with reporters after practice on Thursday and talked about Harold Perkins' role in LSU's defense for his sophomore season.

Kelly said he wants Perkins to play more inside linebacker to learn the whole position.

As a freshman last season, Perkins led the team in sacks (7.5), tackles for loss (13.0), and quarterback pressures (14). He finished third on the team in total tackles with 72.

It will just make him a complete player, he'll be able to play all LB positions. He'll be much more versatile, and that will make him a really valuable commodity to NFL teams when it comes draft time. Go Perk!

I remember a guy named Devin White that middle linebacker. He created havoc everywhere so let's hope HP can continue to build on his first season. LFG!!!!@

Strait line from inside linebacker position to QB. No more looping around tackles. Shortest distance between two points is a strait line. This is chess level coaching.

Only works when you have someone that demands double teams in the middle of the line... Mason smith might just be able to do that. Perkins gonna be snapping spines.

This is in Perkins best interest for his draft stock. He’s already a freak athlete, but if we can get him to be cerebral and be a weapon in coverage as well. He will be the best player in cfb

I don't know about this. Kid was elite on the edge. I hope we're using his strengths and not trying to fit a square peg in a round hole

The opposing QB sees Perkins 8 feet away instead of 14 feet away. The opposing QB is scared.

He needs to be able to go sideline to sideline and make plays in the backfield.

I watched him chase down a track athlete at QB for Arkansas multiple times. I think he’ll be good.

Hmmmmm, okay coach, but he is an All-American on the outside, so let's make him 1 inside, as well?

He had to come off the field a lot last year. I'm sure he will still play outside, but they want him to be an every down player

Yeti _Chaser - he'll be a really versatile player that will be able to line up anywhere on the field. So, that makes it really hard on the opposing team in trying to stop him because they don't know where he'll be each snap. Lol They'll really be worried.
