I knew guys who loved doing this but quit for that reason. They made like 10 bucks a game and mainly did it for kids. Sometime parents can really ruin it for their kids.

How about the "my husband is a firefighter that protects your neighborhood!" fricking trash. This makes me hate the "I'm A HeRo!" professions.

I umped LL and HS baseball. Never once had an issue. I was asked to start umpiring girls softball and after a few tournaments, really liked it until a league game. This one coach was always griping about EVERYTHING and I politely asked her to calm down between innings twice. Then she came at me again and I told her that if she didn’t stop I was going to toss her. She said her husband was the mayor or some shite and I would never be able to ump again. I threw her arse out of the park. All of the parents on the opposing team stood and gave a standing ovation. I could see the parents of her team snickering. After the game one of her players apologized for her behavior. It turns out it was her kid. Years later one of my sons friends married that girl and she is still to this day one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Her mom was just not a good sport.

I umped all thru college for extra $. I threw out parents at almost every game (when I had the plate) They are fricking idiots over an 8 yr old batting or pitching

As a very long time little league umpire this was not the norm back in the day. Only in recent years has this generation taken something so pure and poisoned it for all.

Your generation raised them to be this shitty.

vvvvv wadewilson vvvvv. No, we didn't. You need to reverse that rectacranial inversion you suffer from. That is YOUR generation being the peckerheads.

Coached baseball for many years. Told my parents at the beginning of each season that I’d pull their kid if I ever heard them challenging an ump’s call. Never had an instance of trouble.

I got thrown out of a soccer game once so I can’t say much but there used to be a right way and wrong way to yell at refs. You could say come on ump that was high, low outside, etc, and drop it. He was holding, etc. I used to ref too and occasionally a comment like that would get you looking for it plays latter as you can’t see everything. Now it’s all personal attacks, threats of violence, rapid cussing, etc. No one wants these jobs.

P.S.A. there is a shortage of officials every year. And its understandable. If you have THICK skin give it a shot. I did high school football for four years and it was fun and good $$$. WISH I still could.
