"I lost over 2 gallons of blood, suffered nerve damage, and nicked my jugular; I was then put into surgery to do plastic surgery on my neck and fix my small carotid artery that was severed," he wrote. "It was just a freak accident, but it did put me in the hospital unconscious and fighting for my life. I know that God has bigger plans for me in life; now it's time to get healed up. I also wanna personally thank everyone who was in the arena that night lifting me up in prayer & especially the EMT / medical staff on hand who got me the immediate attention I needed."

"I really didn’t feel it when it first happened," Naegele said. "I thought I broke my jaw until I grabbed my chin and then I seen the blood squirt out from my neck, and I said ‘this ain’t good."
There has been a GoFundMe account set up to help cover his medical expenses.

well, since the human body only has 1.2-1.5 gallons of blood, he must have had to go to the blood bank to borrow some, since he was "overdrawn".

These stories always make me think of F1 driver Alex Zanardi who lost his legs in a horrific crash in 2021. I saw an interview with him where he says he knew it was bad because "Good news doesn't come by helicopter."

He could have lost 2 gallons of blood over 1-2 days. He probably got transfused several units of blood in his 1st day in hospital. 9 units of blood is roughly a gallon. People who have spleen ruptures sometimes will lose more than 50 units of blood over a few days time.

Is it really a freak accident to get gored by a bull when you are a bullrider? Isn't that always a potential outcome of the ordeal?

Average human male has between 5.5 and 6 "Liters" of blood. That's less than 2 gallons. Google is so difficult people!

Humans have 4-5 liters I think.

A gallon is 3.7 or 3.8 L I forget.
He didn't lose 2 gallons.

Ummm. He could have indeed lost 2 gallons ie we don’t know how much they had to use to replenish before they finished. I’ve seen procedures where the entire body’s volume had to be replaced 1.5 times. So, yes they may have had to use that much blood before they finished.

Is it a freak accident when you get gored? Yes, if the bull bursts through your living room window. No, if you climbed your arse on top of it.

An average adult human body contains around 1.2 to 1.5 gallons of blood.

But don't let that stop him from lying. Typical cowboy

I was curious so I did a little research. African elephants have 65 gallons. Their hearts must be massive to move that kind of volume.
