Auburn Announces Vaccine Mandate For Employees, Head Coach Bryan Harsin Won't Discuss It
© Nelson Chenault-USA TODAY Sports
Auburn has announced a vaccine mandate covering all university employees. That includes head coach Bryan Harsin, who when asked about it on Monday, said he was aware of it but refused to discuss his vaccine decision...

Harsin has until December 8 to get vaccinated or he'll face immediate termination. Full statement...
quote:

"Yeah, you go back to not just media days, but also in August, I had a chance to talk to you guys about that as well. So I'm aware of the new policy. I appreciate you have to ask the question and understand it, but it doesn't change ... I mean, the executive order, all those things, it doesn't change the fact that I'm not going to discuss any individual's decision or status on the vaccine or anyone else's including my own, like I said before. So from the beginning, I think I've made it clear that wasn't something that I was going to talk about or discuss. I wasn't going to go down that road and don't feel like right now that's any different. We're focused on Ole Miss. We're focused on the things we have to do to get prepared for this week. There's a lot of other things right now that we have to make sure we're ready for on this football team. That's what I've got to stay focused on with our players and our staff and the people in this program. So we've had these conversations and that doesn't change what I've said before."

Don't understand the logic with the mandates. It doesn't stop the spread, you still can catch it like anybody else. Why go thru these mandates for very marginal if any returns. They are coming for the kids next, which makes no sense as there have been 138 deaths in kids linked to COVID and they mostly had a morbidity.

Did he say he wouldn't/hasn't gotten it, or that he just won't discuss it?

Wonder how much the media bounty will be on his head?

Wonder if Auburn would be so brave and clip his wings. Hard to imagine they would. This is a power play by Auburn admins regardless and hope Harsin doesn’t budge

It is a federal aid requirement. The school has no choice.

Hopefully the whole team takes a stand and doesn't get it. This mandate shite wont stop until people stand up to it.

Really??? Do you know what a blue slip is? Let me help you out here. It is a copy of all the required vaccines that all people must have to attend any school at all levels. This is not anything new here with vaccine requirements. People act like we are breaking new ground here.

TigerTail13 Before COVID when was the last time your employer threatened you with termination for not being vaccinated?

I thought Alabama was one of the states where the Governor signed a bill that said you could not mandate the vaccine in the state. So how does this work since Auburn is a public university?

All that state level BS is just catering to the fringe lunatic base. It's meaningless other than symbolic virtue signaling. ALL universities take a lot of federal money and if they want that federal aid they will comply with federal orders. So in short Auburn will obey just like every other school will obey. Just the facts of the matter whether you agree or not.

All I got to say about it is #FJB! Something in that Vax that they want everyone to have, and it doesn't have anything to do with the wuflu.

it’s not about science, it’s about power and control. Covid has exposed the left.

I thought Gov. MeeMaw issued an executive order. So this doesn't cover Auburn, her Alma Mater, a state university and she's the Ex-Officio member of the Board?

Only for entry to businesses, etc. as a visitor or consumer. It doesn’t cover employment unfortunately.

There is no federal requirement. Those have to be passed by Congress. Just Biden Administration posturing.
