Arkansas Law Would Allow Guns At 2018 Basketball & Football Games
Rob Foldy-USA TODAY Sports
Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson approved gun rights measure Wednesday that would allow fans to carry guns into the stadium beginning in 2018...
quote:

A lawmaker whose district includes the University of Arkansas campus in Fayetteville called the law “horrifying,” and noted it even allows concealed guns at Razorback football games and other sporting events in government-owned facilities.

“People like to have a good time before the game, during the game, people get emotional and angry during the game,” Democratic Rep. Greg Leding said. “I think the idea of introducing loaded weapons into those situations is just ridiculous.”
Thoughts?

It's a special permit, not just a regular CCP. You will be required to take 8 hours of live shooter training and be approved for it. Any permit is void the minute you have a sip of alcohol, so I wouldn't worry about a drunk guy with a gun getting through security. I love the law, especially requiring a course. I hope they adopt it in Alabama.

I am all for it. I mean what if the refs are hosing you,I mean really really giving you the shaft! We should have some means of instant retaliation, right? If we had to go all the way home to get our piece we may lose the urge or miss the moment completely. I hate when that happens.

Yeh because law abiding citizens never shoot each other because of rivalries. Law abiding just means you haven't broken a law YET. Doesn't mean you're a model citizen. Stupid idea anytime you mix firearms and alcohol. There are fire arm accidents all the time. Those are "law abiding" citizens right? You feel comfortable sitting next to someone who may be armed and it possibly discharging accidentally? Wrong place wrong time. Leave law work to trained professionals.

A little shiny and salty but I'll bite. CCP holders are not doing "law work". If you dont want to assume the risk this state has decided to bestow upon the ticket holder, then read the back of your ticket and dont enter the stadium. However, you should probably understand there are many more guns outside the stadium than inside.

"You feel comfortable sitting next to someone who may be armed and it possibly discharging accidentally?" How would I even know and why is it my business? Concealed means concealed. I've probably sat next to concealed carriers numerous times and not even known it - that's kinda the point.

I am withholding judgement until I hear what Hog Lady has to say. She is the only person from Arkansas whose opinion I respect.

"This cant be a good idea"? Yes. Yes it is. You want to know what a bad idea looks like? Disarming law-abiding citizens and empowering criminals.

Ok grandpa. There's literally no reason to have armed citizens attend a massive event where emotions are high as well as mixed with alcohol. That's why there's security and armed police that are paid to go to these events. Until there's a terrorist act at a college football game, keep your jimmies less rustled and leave your gun at home.

"Until there's a terrorist act at a college football game, keep your jimmies less rustled and leave your gun at home." So instead of possibly preventing the attack, lets sit around and wait for it to happen and then change the laws. DoubleDown, serious question, are you retarded?

“People like to have a good time before the game, during the game, people get emotional and angry during the game,” So mature adults who are legally allowed to carry a concealed handgun suddenly become overly emotional because sports games? Gimme a fricking break.

Need a gun at a college football game = beta

Beta is not being able to control your emotions and wanting to go on a shooting spree. Law abiding permit holders don't do that - they commit crime at a lower rate than even police officers. Look it up.

Think about this for a second. The only people that have guns there now are criminals. Gun free zones only stop law abiding citizens from having the option of defending themselves. This shouldnt be an issue because it should have never been a law in the first place.

Just not going to end well if that passes. But hey, at least people will fear Arkansas at that point.
