We might gripe about him at LSU, but truth be told, we loved Saban because he was a good man here and he continues to be a wonderful person as he coaches that team we have begun to hate more than Ole Miss. Coach Saban, here's to you! Your fans will always love you as you have given them the best of yourself.

I recall that hero from a story when he turned 100. Had to look him back up, but incredible man all around. Born during WWI and fought in WWII. One of 12 kids of a share cropper, and had to drop out of school at 13 to help raise the family when his dad died. Drafted into WWII and shipped off when his wife was pregnant with his first child. As the only way to redeploy was victory, severe injury or death, he didn't see his first kid until he was 3 years old. Pretty amazing all the way around. The toughness of that group that were born into a world War, survived the great depression, and forced to fight another world war is unimaginable. Appreciate the clip not for Saban's but in it, but for the reflection on and appreciation of that generation it triggered for me.

Auburn Take: He wouldn't even go see him in person. If he did then Auburn Take 2 : How selfish of Saban to endanger this veteran.

The only thing that supersedes his heartlessness and hatred for humanity is his starvation for attention.
