Former Alabama Star Reacts To Lane Kiffin Trying To Poach Saban's Strength Coach
Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports
It's only been a few days since he's been named Ols Miss' head coach, but Lane Kiffin is already trying to snatch up some of Nick Saban's staff, including Alabama strength coach Scott Cochran. Former Bama LB Reggie Ragland had this to say about that...

I honestly think with O beating him on the field, Kirby on the trail and Lane poking him he may walk away

How in the fuk does a strength and conditioning coach make $800,000+ at school like Iowa??

Iowa usually has an outstanding wrestling program. I imagine a strength coach is in a position to make a name for himself there.

Is the strength coach for the school or just the football team?

He is responsible for all sports.

After how many injuries we had at Bama this year, I'm not sure Cochran is what he's getting paid now.

That should say "is worth what he's getting paid now."

Pretty cheap move on Kiffin's part. How much would you want to leave Saban for Kiffin? Understand it seems he has considerable job security in Tuscaloosa... how much money would it take to pack up the house and move to Oxford?

Cheap? As opposed to what? Everything is fair game. You think Saban doesn't use his relationships that he built while living and coaching in Louisiana to his advantage? Dog eat dog world in the coaching biz. Especially at this level.

Didn't Kiffin offer him a role that would be a promotion? That's hardly poaching. Coaches are no different than the rest of us in that they have ambitions in their careers too. If anything, coaches are LESS likely to be promoted from within than other lines of work. Besides, Cochran is certainly free to say "no thank you."

poaching is poaching. there used to be a time when you didn't sh*t on your mentors in order to win.

He didn't go with Kirby to UGA, so he'll absolutely go with Kiffin at Ole Miss. LOL.

I'm pretty good friends with Cochran's cousin. He's probably in the minority, but Cochran has told him on numerous occasion that he enjoys working for Saban.

Bad move on Cochrans part if he goes to OLE MISS because Kiffen might not be there in 2 weeks.
