Former Alabama WR Mike McCoy has some advice Nick Saban followling last week's loss: rehire former Strength and Conditioning coach Scott Cochran...
quote:

“These people got their money up,” McCoy said, per TDAlabamaMag.com.

“It is the wild, wild, west now. A lot of these kids are going to the highest bidder. So now that these school have the same money as you, what are you going to do about it? What are you going to do different? Are you going to revert back to your old ways? You better call Cochran because the sidelines look dead over there to me. Did it not look dead to you?”

"So NOW that these school have the same money as you"

It certainly is suspicious that Bama has dropped a notch now that everyone can pay players.

Didn't I hear Cochran has or had a problem with drinking or Pharmacuticals?

Yes he has been sober for over a year after overcoming alcohol addiction. The guy is correct about energy on the sidelines. Being a S&C coach the guy bleeds motivational energy.

They're worried now that the playing field is even.

It's a lot easier to be the best and win when you simply have the best players at every position across the board. That is slowly changing with the open payment to players. Saban was the best ever at the under the table, system payments.

Eh, they seem to be getting a lot fewer connective tissue injuries since he left.

"A lot of these kids are going to the highest bidder. So now that these school have the same money as you, what are you going to do about it?" And herein lies the problem at Bama. In past years no one could match the amount of money they were paying players or the system Saban spent decades perfecting. He is the best "amateur sports" has ever seen at buying players and now his system doesn't have the impact it did.
