Annoymous SEC Coach Catching A Lot Of Heat For Saying This About Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa
© Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports
Well, there's an annoymous SEC coach out there chirping about Alabama star QB Tua Tagovailoa as we head into the 2019 season. Any guesses as to who this is? Per SaturdayDownSouth...
quote:

In Lindy’s Sports season preview magazine, there was a doozy of a comment made by an anonymous coach about Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa.

Per this coach, Tagovailoa put himself ahead of the team in the title game and he things the rising junior quarterback needs to humble himself (via 247Sports):

“I think Tua needs to humble himself,” the anonymous coach said. “I think he did some bad things in the bowl game that cost the team because he put himself ahead of the team. He needs to understand Alabama won national championships by playing great defense and special teams and not beating itself. In the national championship game, the quarterback play was atrocious, and some would say the play-calling, too.”

The anonymous coach is Saban. He doesn't have the balls to say that to Tua's face.

I enjoyed Tua throwing an awful pick six and then doing the “that’s on me” hand gesture as if everyone didn’t know that it was his fault.

Tua quit in that game. It was hard for the first time and he quit.

Sounds like something Nick Saban would say to send a message to a player.

Nick Saban said that.

Hey Aaron Suttles- he threw 2 1st half INT’s. But still played the game like a gunslinger. He does need to humble himself.

I agree it was Saban who said it. Losing is never his fault and always on his players lack of focus and execution

Tua wasn’t great in that game, but LOL at the idea Tua cost Bama the game when they gave up 44 points.

Not that it matters, but the defense didn't give up 44.

44-16 was because of the arrogance, entitlement and hubris that has overwhelmed that entire football culture. From the chin-drooling stupidity of the sidewalk fan base to the Saban-knob-polishing of the media to the laziness of the players on the field. When they face a team with near-equal or equal talent this is how they respond. They are mentally soft and feel like the game is won when they get off the bus.

He didn’t play well for sure, but the mistakes and perceived selfish play I don’t think are a reflection on his character as this coach is saying. What you saw in the title game was a young player trying to do too much a in a pressure situation. Happens to every young QB at some point. It was just magnified on the biggest stage because until Clemson no team was able to put them in that position. But as others have said, even if he had played mistake free Clemson still wins by 2 tds at least. Bam a defense sucked and Lawrence was that good.
