Everyone who knew he wouldn't get drafted feel free to tip your cap.

I knew he would not get a fair shake since his 40 would suck. It is too bad. He would do fine if someone was willing to give him regular workload.

This is a strange flex, dude. I remember you saying he wouldn't get a shot, and I and other TRUE Mizzou fans said he would. Guess what? He'll get his shot.

Why don't you save your "bragging" for the beginning of the NFL season when the 53 man rosters are set. Posts like this make me question some of y'alls fanhood.

I just want him to get a fair shot. He isn't going to get that as an UFA but he deserves that. NFL sucks and I dont get why people still defend it.

My disdain for the NFL has nothing to do with being a Mizzou fan. You'd have to be an idiot to think the two are related.

EDIT: It is OK for you to admit I (and others) were right about the ineptness of the NFL. You dont need to carry the NFL's water for some unknown reason.

I didn't know this was an NFL post. It seemed like a "brag bc I said Schrader wouldn't make it in the NFL and he didn't get drafted so I must be right" post.

You do realize that players can still play in the NFL if they don't get drafted, don't you?

Sure, and you realize it isn't a level playing field for UFA, right? When you go in as UFA, you can't just beat someone under contract. You have to beat them significantly enough to offset the issues with cutting a player under contract with guaranteed money. Except for a few very rare examples, an UFA can't just be 10-20% better than their contracted competition for a roster spot. They are going to have to be like 40%+ better to where it isn't even comparable.

Otherwise, if they are lucky they get relegated to a practice squad spot somewhere and just have to rely on someone else getting injured despite being good enough to play now.

NFL needs to restructured so that NFL franchises can keep their best players and not be punished for having someone under contract.

EDIT: this also doesn't even get into the ridiculousness that is not drafting Cody because of his 40 time. completely idiotic.

I'm not an NFL guy. I follow Mizzou players and watch the playoffs, but that's about it. I do know that he's going to a team that runs OSZ, which he excels at, therefore giving him a better chance. As for the contract stuff, Shanahan (nor any other coach for that matter) ain't cutting a player that can help him win.

I think we might owe Cody Schrader a little bit more credit, and time, to prove himself at this next level. A better and more relevant Mizzou fan post would be to ask the cap tip of all those who, last August, had Cody running for 1,600 yards.

Every team does it practically every year. Nobody admits they were wrong in signing a player.

I think Schrader not being drafted was a blessing in disguise for him.

He could have been "drafted" by an incompetent organization like the Jets or Panthers and been a misfit to scheme. Instead as a UDFA he was free to chose his own landing spot and he couldn't have picked a better one than the 49ers. Their blocking scheme is a perfect fit for Schrader. In fact, I've watched a shite ton of 49ers football since the Rams moved and more than once I marveled at how much Cody's runs resemble Christian McCaffery and now he gets to be mentored under him.

I've also been surprised how many of the San Francisco reporters have singled him out as someone who could buck the odds and make their 53 man roster. He's not as well kept a secret as I thought he might be. I can't remember which reporter said it, but one commented they can't imagine how (if the same Schrader shows up) the head coach will agree to cut him. That's the Schrader we know.

I'm not prepared to go that far but have no doubt, at worst, he'll make their practice squad this year with a great chance to stick on their active roster in 2025. We all know he won't be outworked, so all that's left is the opportunity and this one is solid gold for him. Be glad, 98. I think he's found his new home.

It was a bad draft for RB’s. Since 1968 or the last 57 drafts there has only been 2 years that a RB wasn’t picked in the 1st RD. Teams can find cheap serviceable FA RB’s and pickup RB’s on cheap rookie contracts lower in the draft. Austin Ekler and Raheem Mostert are starting UDFA’s. Last year Mostert led the league in TD’s and was on the AFC Pro Bowl team.

First 4 RB’s drafted this year
2nd RD #46 Jonathan Brooks
3rd RD #66 Trey Benson
3rd RD #88 MarShawn Lynch
4th RD #120 Jaylen Wright

RB Isaiah Davis from Joplin, Mo was drafted in the 5th RD by the Jets.

Brooks is a risky pick at #46. In 3 years at Texas he only had 238 rushing attempts and is coming off a ACL surgery. Some mock drafts didn’t have him in the top 5 RB’s. Carolina should have waited until 52 or 65 instead of trading up.

49ers, Texans, Rams, or the Dolphins since the all run the same scheme. As a 49er fan I’m stoked to have him and hope he makes the roster but at worse I think he starts the year on the practice squad. Niners always have one or two running backs go down with injury.

Drafts can be weird. Cam Little out of Arkansas was knocking out 50 yard FGs and he went in the 7th round.
