figured Wague was gonna be politely asked to leave

I love how we one one hand have no problem with lesser players being politely pushed out but lose our minds when players look for their own bag.

Reality is we have benefited greatly from the transfer portal and this new "culture" and shouldn't even complain

Agree with what you're saying but it does hurt to see guys we recruited out of HS dip from a final 4 team. I get it they want their bag too but this new reality sucks.

I have 0 problems with a player seeking money with his limited eligibility

There's definitely been some over the top bitching. But a little complaining is fine. We've known it's a new wild West era. But coming off a final 4 run, it's hard not to have some emotional investment in players you've spent dozens of hours cheering for.

But this cycle featured a quality bitch slapping of reality. We knew people were gonna leave. We just didn't expect people to see a starter transfer. And to be real about it, the overreaction to Walters transfer tells me that a few good ol boys were dying to see him develop into a starter.

There's gonna be bags dropped. There's also gonna be playing time concerns, and personality conflicts. But until rules are properly established, we've seen first hand we're going to lose good players and returning starters. It blows. But we're also been hitting the portal pretty fricking hard. Here's a tweet from South Florida's head coach

“SOME” of you P5 coaches, Head & Assistants need to get back on your craft

Don’t pass on a player & then a year later once you see what your eyes couldn’t, try & POACH him from OUR programs.

But hey… every1 can recruit not every1 can EVALUATE ??

I don't believe he's talking about Oats with this. But you see how much worse it could be. Losing your best player every year, when you find a diamond in rough and develop them into a player, to see them leave. Everybody had said it would turn the mid majors into a farm system for high majors, and that's exactly what's happened. It's only getting hard for the Cinderellas. It'll be even more noticable after all the covid seniors are gone.

So while it's okay to bitch a little when a beloved player leaves for a bag or more playing time. But be glad we aren't in this shite with Avery at the helm. Oats is replacing transfers with guys who have already been the top dog at smaller schools. They've been leaders and are heavily experienced. They've shot FTs with the game on the line. And they're people who are ready to take a reduced role so they can win. Sure, for some it may just about the biggest bag. But a lot of these guys that we've had seem to be very mature and give full effort. Straight up work horses that hustle on every okay. And those are the kinda dudes that are gonna win games in March.
