So if I just wanted to play offline I wouldn’t need it?

No if you’re just playing modes like RTG, exhibition, or offline dynasty

I’m not seeing a PC port happening at-least for EACFB25 because of the Arch opting-out issue, for Madden 24’s PC release everyone opted in (players association)
They probably want to avoid him possibly getting modded into the game, and possibly others that weren’t reported who opted out

I'm not sure what modes they'll incorporate in the new CFB game, but if you were to want to do something similar to Ultimate Team like in the rest of the EA sports games, you would need an online account.
Offline you can at least play head to head games against CPU, probably do a story mode/Dynasty of some sort.
