How is this $Bill's fault?
I'm sure it can still be finalized but a current person on one side or both is blocking it.

$Bill - "Hey! I'm getting married!"
Unwashed Rabble - "She said yes! Huzzah!"
$Bill - "That's right! Save the date!"
months later
Unwashed Rabble - "Hey where's the invite? We want to go to that wedding!
$Bill - "Oh well she never actually said yes. I just wanted you to know I was discussing the possibility of marrying her. Also, I'm keeping any presents you bought in anticipation of the event. My bad!
