A look at the baseball impact McIlwain will make, excited to see him out on the diamond as well. LINK /

Reportedly passed up at least 2 million as well, pretty sure that's the most by any recruit that came to play at USC. Shatters Wil Crowe's 1.2 million.

quote:

One of the elite athletes in the nation, Brandon McIlwain is a potential game changing talent at both the collegiate, and eventually the professional level. McIlwain shows true 60 power potential from the right side, generating excellent extension and natural lift in his stroke.

A plus runner capable of posting 6.5 60 yard dash times, McIlwain could have potentially gone off the board in the first 50 picks in the 2016 June draft... he could have been a very real candidate to go off the board in the first 25 picks, given his combination of speed and power. McIlwain has also shown that he handles advanced pitching very well, and could adapt very quickly at the collegiate level. His feel for hitting is the thing that scouts consistently bring up when it comes to this explosive young talent.

Though nothing is certain in college, McIlwain clearly has the tools to be an instant impact guy on both on the gridiron and baseball team.

Will McIlwain be the highest rated recruit we've ever signed that ALSO enrolled? Does anyone on here have a subscription to Perfect Game or Baseball America that could look at that?

I think Drew Meyer was in that range as well. I remember Tommy LaSorda flying in to Charleston to visit with his parents and him the night before he drove to Columbia and enrolled. I think, I'm pretty sure, he left $1.4 million on the table that night. I talked to his dad and him about it and that number seems right ... but I'm not sure. I know it was over a million.
