Not necessarily. But I’m pretty sure hogs just have to win one which is a pretty good shot at that. We haven’t been swept all year and Hagen gives us a chance against the Aggie lineup. Hogs win one and hogs win west and I don’t see how they can take a top 8 if we drop 2 on the road

A sweep by either team would be unlikely ...

Been saying for the last month or so that hogs will lose this series. I’d be shocked if we get swept. I have a feeling we can take game 1. Hagen smith is the absolute X factor and I like our pitching behind him. The next 2 games should be all Aggie though. We even shook up rotation due to our next 2 SPs not being dependable as of right now

Will be a struggle to overcome elite pitching.
Given Smith’s credentials, Ags aren’t expecting a sweep. Do the Ags really need a sweep to win the west?

I think so. Not sure. Think y’all are 2 games back so a sweep would put yall in the lead. I’m not 100% on that though.

I am saying... we shouldn't be that high

Yes, we should.

We are 1-8 vs the Top 3 teams in the RPI (6 of those games on the road) and 31-11 vs everyone else. We've only lost 1 series to a team that isn't ranked in the top 3 (@ State 2-1). We have series wins over #4 Arkansas, #6 Tennessee, #19 South Carolina and #24 Ole Miss (plus wins over #27 Arizona, #35 LSU (2x) and #49 Troy (2x)).

30% of our games this season are against teams ranked in the Top 6 in the RPI (we went 5-10).

It is possible hogs get swept. Ags have the lineup for it and we definitely don’t have the offense. All it takes is one bad outing from smith. He just hasn’t had one of those since his very first outing this year.

I was thinking of potential tiebreaker rules. I doubt that detail plays into any part of game strategy though.

I just want the double BYE in the SEC tournament, which Arky already has secured.

Aggies sweep = Aggies win West = Aggies get double BYE

Hogs win at least 1 game = Hogs win West = Hogs get double BYE

Hogs 19-8
Aggies 17-10

It's not possible to tie.

Arky is already a lock for the double bye. A&M needs 1 win.

Has any conference ever gotten four top 8 seeds?

I expect some serious frickery by this committee if history holds.

Ok so it looks like no tiebreaker, but both could still get double BYE

Obviously dependent on the Vandy series but my guess is we get the nod for having 18 Q1 wins. Pretty sure that’s the most in the country,

18-6 last time I checked. Insane.

Edit: forgot to quote.

Arkansas damn sure isnt sweeping. Smith is starting Thursday and then it looks like bullpen arms starting the rest of the weekend.

I’m certain the SEC has done it multiple times.

And you’re probably gonna get 5 this year unless Georgia loses to Florida at home.
