I don't think any scene in any movie could ever affect me the same way as the original chestburster scene. It could not have been set up more perfectly.

I was 9 or 10 years old, and I had nightmares for months.

If you’re not familiar with the story behind that filming that scene, you should check it out.

Basically, Ridley Scott and only a handful of the “need to know” actors and crew knew what was going to happen. Scott wanted the horror and disgust to be as genuine as possible. Most of the actors in the scene only knew that the alien was going to appear in some form or fashion, but nothing else.
