12 years since an SEC school was in Championship and 16 years since it was anybody but Kentucky.

No SEC school is relevant in modern basketball.

We’d all like to thank Georgia’s contribution to that.

It’s almost time for UGA fans to participate in the forum again. Just a few more months little guy and it will be football season again.

Until then UGA fans need to visit the soccer forums or build up the UGA legal defense fund.

SEC Basketball

For the first time in forever, the SEC was considered the best basketball conference in the country. With the Shorthorns and Sooners in the mix, the SEC will soon rival the football version of Who's Your Daddy.

Funny how you miss stuff living vicariously through Athens.

Dumb. Is winning the title the only way to be relevant? If so, UConn is the only relevant school.

Bama made a final 4 this year and has one of the best coaches in the country, recruiting at as high of a level as anyone not named Duke.

Auburn made the final 4 five years ago and has one of the best coaches in the country.

Arkansas has 2 elite 8s, 3 sweet 16s, knocked out 2 #1seeds in the past 4 years, HoF coach and recruiting as well as anyone not named Duke

Tennessee has been to the sweet 16 and elite 8 the last 2 years, been a 3, 4, and 2 seed in the tourny the last 3 seasons.

This probably changes now that money is in play.

SEC teams may not have as many high rollers, but in true redneck fashion, our high rollers like shiny things.

Thinking basketball relevancy is limited exclusively to championship appearances is such a football mindset

I am not old enough to remember everything about SEC basketball, but since I have been alive and following basketball, the last 15-20 years have been the glory years for the SEC in basketball. I can’t remember a time where almost every game is a challenge. I remember when I was at Auburn and we had Barbee and every SEC team automatically circled that as a win. Outside of Mizzou of this year, most years there is not an easy game in the SEC. And maybe I am being bias, probably am, but I really believe when Auburn went to the Final Four in 2019, it woke up every SEC team not named Ut and UK. I think that was a catalyst of these past few years of strong basketball play in the SEC. I mean, even your team is better than average and I dread when Auburn has to go on the road to play you guys. It’s completely different than it used to be when it was mostly just the 2-3 same teams every year dominating with an outlier here and there. And now adding Texas and Oklahoma? This is going to be really fun to watch.
