Eh, I’m not too fond of some of the antics he allows the players to get away with (or some of the ones he does himself) but at the end of the day his guys love him and love playing for him. And he has put out some amazing teams and churned out highly touted players in his tenure. UT was nothing for a decade before he got there, and he’s completely revamped and energized the entire program. He’d be a hell of a get, even though I don’t think he’d be a great fit for Ole Miss.

Then again the last time we hired a Tennessee head coach I wasn’t too crazy about the idea but it’s worked out pretty well so far. So what do I know

I don’t blame Ole Miss fans for wanting Bianco gone but I’ve noticed the rise in parity for college baseball more than ever. LSU has plenty of fans that somehow hate Jay Johnson but easy to point out O’Sullivan at Florida and Corbin at Vanderbilt have had some terrible seasons despite being loaded on paper. Sometimes it just doesn’t work out for one reason or another. On paper LSU is a great team but nothing is clicking and we’ve caught some tough breaks. I do think we fricked up hiring Yeskie as pitching coach though.

It’s not like McDonnell at Louisville magically forgot how to coach. I bet ole miss takes him easily and it’d still be a great fit with a change of scenery like Barnes going to Tennessee basketball. Still if I’m ole miss cliff Goodwin is the first call. When he was at LSU it was the best coached hitting team I’ve ever seen us have.

I would interested to know what Vitello’s long term plans are. He has good thing at Tennessee, upgrading facilities and their baseball NIL has rivaled LSU’s Marucci fund.

They’re going to have to pay up if/when Texas fires Pierce. If Vitello turns Texas down maybe he’s there to stay for the long haul.
