One thing people aren’t mentioning besides Saban leaving is we lost William Reichard, the man responsible for the most points ever scored in the NCAA.

I'm hoping we won't have to kick FGs with DeBoer's offense. I believe Talty can make XPs.

I don't live anywhere remotely close to AL, otherwise I'd be there, but I sure hope fans show up to greet him and his family.

For one, I’m not worried about the “culture shock” and relating to the South angle. I think he’s down to earth enough coming from a small town of 3,000 in South Dakota and coaching at small schools in the middle of nowhere that he’ll be fine.
The comparison to Harsin doesn’t hold water to me. Harsin didn’t fail because he’s from Idaho. He was lazy and didn’t understand the importance of recruiting and relationships with high schools and coaches.
I think kids will find out pretty quick they’re talking to a winner and a coach who knows how to get to championships. Hell, Oats is from Wisconsin and was coaching at Buffalo, about as far north without being in Canada you can get. I know the dynamic of the two sports aren’t totally the same, but the point remains. You don’t have to talk with a drawl to recruit and win.
I’m excited.

Statement from Coach DeBoer, per 247Sports:
Statement from Kalen DeBoer: "I have always had an incredible respect for Alabama football and its commitment to excellence. The tradition-rich history of this program is unmatched across the landscape of college athletics, and I look forward to continuing that moving forward. Following Coach Saban is an honor. He has been the standard for college football, and his success is unprecedented. I would not have left Washington for just any school. The chance to lead the football program at The University of Alabama is the opportunity of a lifetime. My family and I feel truly blessed and look forward to becoming a part of the Tuscaloosa community. I want to thank Director of Athletics Greg Byrne, President Stuart R. Bell, Chancellor Finis St. John and The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees for their belief in me to lead this program."

Great statement. This is a winner's perspective on following a legend, rather than shrinking from it.

Why not at the university hanger?

Love the hire.
He's got Saban there to give him the lay of the land and get him started on building relationships with the HS coaches in the SEC.
Really hoping he can bring Grubb and JaMarcus Shephard with him also.

Wish he would have finished it with a "Roll Tide" but it's great nonetheless.

Harsin was also sabotaged from within from day 1.

I mean Saban was from West Virgina and spent early career in the upper Mid-West and no connection to the South whatsoever until he got to LSU
