We will get killed on defense and rebounding if we do that

Actually strongly disagree here. Denver has had some really good weak side rebounds and if anything he would have an easier guard in most games, but that’s assuming we stop switching which makes that whole argument mute.

And if Denver is at the 3 then we need a starting 2.

Aden or KD most likely. You would assume Aden if he got his head right.

About the bold part, I think that's part of why we should encourage Aden to look around. I'm sure he's getting a lot of NIL.. I would rather take that money and spend big at the 4 and 5.

If Aden leaves that would mean we would have lost our entire incoming HS class the past two years. Just can’t see that happening and also can’t see Bruce giving up on a kid that he’s been extremely vocal about believing in.

If we are approaching our roster with a moneyball mindset then we are in trouble. Yeah we need to be wise and not just sling money around for no reason, but I’d rather Aden make his nice cut of NIL and produce than give up on him to try and penny pinch in hopes of having a few extra bucks to entice a 4 or a 5, plus have to replace his roster spot.

Stats per Synergy:
Auburn had 18 catch-and-shoot three point looks tonight, 10 of which were considered unguarded.
The Tigers shot 3-of-10 on those looks. On the other (guarded) looks they shot 1-of-8.
In addition, Auburn had 13 jump shots off the dribble and made none of them.

This is impressively bad. Wow.

But he's going to be defending guys 4 inches taller and way heavier. Even if he can play the 3 though that bring us to the next probably defensively..

KD has the defense, but can't start. He's a terrible shooter. Aden is a terrible defender. He's like 5'10 and can't guard PG's.. he would get smoked by good 2's. In addition Tre isn't a good defender and who know how Pettiford defends as a freshman. Our guards would get killed.

He's already giving Denver some of his minutes. He went from starter, to bench, to losing more mins.. Bruce says the right things, but he doesn't appear to be too confident in him either.

I think this is just where we are in basketball. NIL money is limited and combined with missing players because of Under Armour and we have to be very picky about how we spend.

You act like the average 3 is 6’8 lol. 6’4 is tall enough to play the 4. With JWill out we may find out soon enough though. Small ball lineup is gonna be fun with a team that can’t make a 3 though :lol/

So let’s just cut KD, Aden, Tre, and Tahaad before next season then

I agree that KD starting is the worst option. Too much of a black hole on offense. Aden is not a terrible defender though and neither is Tre. Tre had a rough night tonight but on the season he’s been good and Aden has been way better than I expected. He just needs to get stronger.

I think Bruce has lost confidence in Aden figuring things out this season. Him being vocal about believing in Aden tells me he still believes in him for the future. He hardly said anything about Chance and Yohan and he absolutely wanted Chance to come back.

Yet we continue to go hard after elite HS guys. We don’t have the NIL to compete with a Kansas or UK where you can name your price for the entire lineup, but I would about guarantee you that for these guys Bruce has a competitive offer on the table. UnderArmour is for sure a barrier but hopefully that barrier is removed soon.

The Person speculation is so tempting. I have to believe it. It just makes sense.

Someone on On3 had a good point that the F4 team was a better coaching staff overall, not just Person. Golden was clearly an excellent hire by Bruce. Adler was another that people for the most part have extremely high things to say about him.

I think the staff we have now excels in scouting, and I do think Steven is a very good big man coach. Bowman and Williams are excellent coaches that you definitely get value from. All accounts are that Burgo is a analytics guru. But as time goes on and guys seem to continue to decline in their shooting ability… you have to wonder what we are missing from a developmental standpoint. Prewett definitely feels like the odd man out on the staff to me, but I honestly couldn’t tell you what his focus is on the staff. I would assume implementing our zone defense but it’s gotta be a lot more than that considering how rarely we go zone.

If it was just this loss, I would not care. This type of thing can be expected. But losing Jaylin is just too much for me man. That’s my guy. I’m pretty much out now.

I was at the game and it was chippy all night. Kentucky pushed us around and we just took it. I’m still mad at the money I spent to watch us take a azz beating.

At best, probably come back in March. I think they’ll find out for sure what it is today. Sounded like he tore something for sure.

Yeah I didn’t think in a million years they’d physically beat us like that.

MRI today. I would imagine to they do it pretty early in the day. Bruce definitely sounded concerned. Really hope it’s not season ended just for Jaylin’s sake. Would be awful for his AU career to end from an injury in our worst game in 8 years.

Just hoping Jaylin’s injury is minor. If he is out I would expect Broome to play the 4 and 5. I CMo to get minutes at the 4 and Chaney to play more minutes as well

I think UK found our kryptonite. Pick up and pressure the guards right at half court and everything falls apart. We had no answer for it.

Source: Auburn's Jaylin Williams isn't expected to need surgery and will return soon after a knee injury against Kentucky. Williams underwent his MRI this morning. That's great news for the Tigers. We'll see how long Williams is out, that'll be up to Bruce Pearl and Williams.
