True.
Got absolutely embarrassed at UK, then didn't lose another game until the Final 4 ripoff by the refs against Virginia.
Considering how badly we played in the first half, our sloppy TOs and refusal to feed Broome when they could not stop him, and 20% 3-point shooting, the fact that we fought till the end and had a chance is encouraging.
Maybe this can be used as a teachable moment.

We shite the bed shooting, stupid turnovers, and bama was on fire from 3.

That's really the story of the game.

There were a lot of games that year our guards didn’t make shots under pressure. Don’t make me post the play by play of 5 year old game because I swear I will in the AM lol. Never draw too much from a one game sample size. I actually think the reason Bruce rode Aden in this one late is because he knows he’s a guy that can make those shots late. He just didn’t tonight.

The possession that will keep from falling asleep tonight is when we cut it to 60-60 and got a huge defensive stop, then Denver came down and threw an alley oop that only Wembanyama could have caught.

Agreed.
That was when we should have slowed it down and pounded inside to Broome yet again. If we could have taken the lead there, we might have won by 2-3 posessions.
Instead we let them get momentum back yet again.
There were at least 3 possessions during the game where we played great defense for 28 seconds, forced them into a bad shot and got caught sleeping on the backside rebounder who made an easy basket (2 of which resulted in an and1 IIRC). That needs to be corrected.

But you knew they had it in them. Stop with the outliers. I knew before the year started that group could shoot lights out. See regular season championship. At that point it isn't about can they do it, but when are they going to have cold stretches and can they bounce back.

This new group is basically the same guards plus Aden Mazara and Denver. I am not about to believe those guys are just going to break out. Donaldson is currently our best offensive threat at point guard, but he is a low ceiling player. We havent had elite guard play in years.

That’s one of those you pull up in film and say “wtf were you thinking?”

That did suck too

I am not too terribly mad about it because I recognize Pearl allows the greenlight, and that is something that helps on the recruiting trail.

Who knows maybe they make play a lot in practice. They certainly would have shut T-town up. Bruce not shortening the bench by one in the bigger games is more disappointing.

Well we’ll agree to disagree on that but I will agree that these dudes (Aden, Denver, Tre) ain’t gonna be Jared and Bryce. But I think they can be some of that and hopefully just make the right basketball plays AKA get it to Broome and Jaylin on key possessions and be ready for a kick out wide open three.

Jang, you’re not comparing Jared (jr) and Bryce (sr) to Tre (so) and Aden (fr) are you? That seems a bit unfair, maybe give Tre and Aden a year or two more before you say those guys can’t break out.

I repeat: since 2020 our guards have sucked. I am losing patience with them. I believe Aden will be fine but we are trying to win now.

Well to be fair Jang is talking about them in terms of what we can do this year. I think Tre and Aden are clearly very good pieces that can get better every year but this front court is championship ready and we need not waste it

I still feel pretty dang good about our SEC reg season championship chances but we could have almost buried Bama tonight. Still a 4 horse race now imo

Wait, I thought it was good for our boys to have some adversity and getting humbled?

Dammit, I have got to read the do’s and dont’s for fans of basketball schools.

We hit our FTs or 1 shot late and we are talking about how great we are. They shot the ball well. We didn’t. Road game in conference. Move on to the next one just like if we had won.

It's different when you lose to your rival as they snap your winning streak

I thought we weren’t at our best but did pretty well for a very tough road game. Bama got hot on 3’s.

Bama basically shot their average on 3’s tonight. They average 11 makes per game

Was it just me or did it feel like the announcers were a wee bit Biased for Bama?

Or am I feeling jilted over the loss?

You’re correct. The fan in me just wants us to get a q1 win before it becomes a talking point. The basketball guy in me knows it was just a basketball game on the road against a good team.
