2.) I wanted a young up-and-comer on the bleeding edge of modern offensive innovation

3.) I'm actually somewhat sanguine Petrino will work as an OC if Jimbo actually gives him full control. Two massive egos, but best case scenario is this past season humbled Jimbo enough to know he's gotta change approach ahora mismo, or it's over (he may not care with the $$$ he's getting, but pride could drive him to avoid further pratfalls of failure)

If it implodes but offense is noticeably better do you think Fisher will resume play calling long term or will the offensive output improvement make it impossible for him to resume play calling again?

If it implodes, I think that's all she wrote for the Fisher era.

I say all this hoping to be proven emphatically wrong as Jimbo/Petrino lay waste to the CFB world and lead us to the promised land. For reference, I wanted Harbaugh fired at Michigan a couple of years ago, and he turned it around finally.

This is why I don't really see a downside with the Petrino hire. Even if Petrino is no longer the offensive master he once was it will be a big improvement over Fisher. IF it falls apart then Fisher should be done. IF it works well and Petrino moves on then Fisher will have to bring in another OC.

Right now I just don't see any scenario where Fisher resumes being the OC/play caller. This is what I really like about Petrino coming in.
