We should also get a TE soon. Josh Cuevas from UW is supposedly on campus right now. Might be enrolling shortly. Very good in 2022 at a small college (58 receptions). Only 4 receptions this past year, but with an absurd 45+ yard average. Was behind some experienced, good TEs. Might be ready to breakout.
Edit - Welp. Two minutes after I posted, it appears that he officially committed. Two very nice gets from the portal this evening! It appears that he redshirted at the small college in 2021. He should have two years to play at Bama.

I wonder if this was who Orr was referring to when he said a safety at an sec school was possibly entering the portal. This guy is a Jr, no idea how he is able to enter the transfer portal now

It wasn't Mathews. Orr was referring to the two Michigan DBs (Sabb and Rod Moore).

It's important to note that Mathews can't transfer to an SEC school without sitting out this year unless the SEC changes it's rule on that this Spring.

I say we just take him and get a judge to say the ncaa can't stop him from playing. Maybe we throw 13 or 14 people out there on defense too and have a judge say that they can't limit the number of people we use because that is limiting the ability for all players to make money. Hell, let's just play all 85 at once.

If he's got a degree, he can be a grad transfer at any time.

I know that, but he would have had to have gotten his degree in two years. Which is possible i guess, but doesn't seem likely.

13 or 14 guys for us under a Golding D would have just resulted in 2 or 3 extra guys to be out of position.

I just read that he is planning to enter in Spring and him announcing so before Spring ball and his recruiting ranking is what made it notable. It sounds like he won’t be participating this Spring at all.

The SEC will get challenged in court and he will play wherever he transfers to in the fall.
