Many pass happy teams, like Leach's,are less than sound on the defensive side of the ball. Look at the Big 12. LSU's ball control gives them a big edge....
Herman's team is getting run over by an inferior Memphis team. He "O" looks awful...
No! Leaving LSU after almost completely nearly one year does not equate to retiring a jersey....
I believe he ran a 3-4 defense at Wisc. Is he known for blitzing a lot or very little? At least he'll have some decent talent to begin his new position. Best wishes to him and his family....
OBJ acted like an idiot. He should have been ejected from the game. I'm NYG and LSU fan - now, an embarrassed one due to his actions yesterday. Hopefully the NFL comes down hard on him - he could have injured others. Hope he doesn't turn into a continual classless act....
It is because they leave early to go pro. Very few starting seniors on the teams under Miles. This proves the coaches can coach. So they lose their best leaders to the NFL. This is the reason the Tigers are never senior laden. This creates a loss of talent and leadership ability. Who is at fau...
Hell, he can't beat Temple....

Many players have left early for the NFL in past years. In truth, this has robbed Miles/LSU of veteran players on both sides of the ball. This happens because Les is a top recruiter. So, in reality, he and team never get the benefit of a talent laded and veteran senior team. Les' recruiting act...
I became an LSU fan in 1960 when platoon football became the rage. I remember the Chinese Bandits, and Cannon getting the Heisman a year earlier. Been a fan ever since. Still am and always will be. I live less than an hour from Penn State but don't go there. I am amazed the early season n...
As the season winds down upcoming opponents are stacking the box against the LSU o-line. They simply cannot block the numbers. They are outmanned. A fix would have been to run a more "open" offensive scheme i.e.: counters, reverses, and some passes in non-obvious situations. Everyone is keying o...
A great statement Cliff. Thank you. Your message was honest and also eye-opening....
Miles is still the one to coach LSU. Players love him. He's a proven winner. Great record during his tenure. Let the loss go. Play well the rest of the season and win a bowl game....

re: Passing to win. Running to lose.

The drive-killer are the penalties that create long yardage situations. Remove offensive penalties and the score vs Syracuse would have been a near blowout. ...
The passing game was not needed except in cases of penalties putting the offense in deep holes at Syracuse. The backs all ran hard. Each pass puts the QB of injury risk from blindside shots. LSU ends up winning by 10. THe Carrier Dome is a very tough environment giving them imo a 10 point adva...

re: How good is Beckwith?

Posted by reed morton on 9/20/15 at 6:06 am
Beckwith is great. But how about the positive change of play with the O-line? Nothing like last year. They are getting off the ball in unison, staying on blocks and creating nice holes for the backs. The O-line is the most improved area followed close by the QB. ...
Well, not playing the game cost LSU some reps for sure. It also gets some seasonal butterflies away. However, a win against McNeese isn't important. The main factor is: no injuries. Full strength in week 2....
